I just received my MG 30 Multi effects and it has a couple page manual in what appears to be Chinese and when I turn on the unit it seems to be sent from the factory in Chinese or whatever language and I can’t change it. I’ve gone online and in the middle of downloading they are software and firmware I keep getting a pop-up box saying Win-rar something about 40 days and appearing to want money. I’m not very computer savvy this is really frustrating me. Would anybody be able to help.

What you downloaded was likely a ZIP file that needs to be unzipped. Winrar is just a zip/rar program for unzipping files.
WinRar will say it wants money, but you can choose to ignore that and just upzip the files. Once unzipped you will see what you have downloaded.

If WinRAR insists on wanting money... download and install 7zip. https://www.7-zip.org/
It will take over the zip duties and is a great utility to have.

Another option is to just uninstall WinRAR and let your Windows handle the Zip file itself... it's already got a way to manage them.

I was looking at the manuals several weeks ago, there is a menu to change the language. Try to find it in the manual, it might take a while to get to it.

The manual they sent is only in Chinese but I looked online and the manual they have an English says nothing about that. I even got a msg from NUX stating the wrong unit was sent and that was meant to stay on their mainland. They say it can’t be changed and return it.

My Alchy sense is tingling... could it be a ploy by big Covid ha ha... I joke but I also realize this has impacted almost the whole world. I originally thought it was in transit for weeks but as the order was screwed up and back logged it came FedEx in a few days.

By the by, just using it with factory presets has opened up a ton of space on the floor and made it so much easier to split my signal in stereo. My recordings sounded immediately better, as I didn’t really possess any of those sort of up-to-date Michael Landau type clean tones, and Eric Johnson type of warm fuzzy muffled lead tones. I may look to a model somewhere higher up the chain. Thanks so much for you guys replies

If you want, you could try setting it back to defaults? on mine the button that says global, hold it down till the screen has 9 options, turn the knob above the button to the lower left hand corner this is the reset-defaults, push the knob down, on the screen hilight the right selection which is to reset defaults, then push save button on left of screen. Don't know if it will do anything but it might. Couldn't find a language in any setup

I like that they recognize the unit as being domestic China-only, and say to return it. I take it this is a known issue from the manufacturer so I am guessing whomever sold it to you is aware and has a policy about it. These things do happen.

I was looking at the manual for a Valeton unit, several weeks ago or something, and on that one you could switch languages. I was thinking this would be a common function on other units, but apparently not.

I didn't check when I replied, I had also downloaded some Nux manuals at that time when I saw that in the Valeton manual, hence the confusion. Sorry.

Oh no problem at all...I appreciate you even thinking about it. I hope the tone of my response didn’t read like I was unappreciative, it’s so hard gauging those things when we don’t actually know the person.

yeah I got it from Reverb and I bought it specifically because it said it was in Texas but I came to find out it was actually sent out from the factory I guess drop ship style? They have been on backorder for quite a while (maybe AnalogMan makes them) haha. The seller didn’t know about that. I posted queries on a few YouTube sites that were advertising the unit and I think one of them was actually NUX. I got a reply about a day later which would’ve been yesterday or this morning. Now I’m trying to figure out how to return it and hopefully I don’t have to pay. I don’t see why I already had a refund request granted. The pedal seller and and NUX both say simply return it but I don’t think they use Reverb as I’ve been looking... i’m sure I’ll find it. I was pretty miffed when the Reverb ad said they shipped from Texas and then came to find out it was China, but I guess it was FedEx and after the long wait I experienced with Zzsounds, it appears the package was delivered in about a week. Probably sat around their customs for about four Days then ours for another three, then my house in a day or two. It might’ve even been quicker. And yes I was happy that they got back to me quickly. I think I’ll play it all weekend and then send it back Monday...

I've got the MG300 it appears they are similar and it's not just a language issue.

There are two distinct versions of the MG300, one for the Asian market and one for the rest of the world. With the Mg300 there is a visible difference between the versions. Asian market has white knobs, rest if world silver knobs.

MG30 may be same in terms of identification?

Yeah thanks I actually went on some of the sites that show it and was able to glean that from seeing the buttons in English. But alas the company contacted me and said that this unit was supposed to stay on their mainland. It appears to have two different dialects to toggle between. I’m in Garden Grove/Stanton area and I actually thought of asking my neighbors, as this is a melting pot of Asia-Japanese-Orient- Indo China-just everyone you can think of, Including a Lipan Apache Sephardic Jew, baptized in the Catholic Church. Haha.

Otherwise, how do you like the mg30?
It looks interesting.

I am really digging it! It cleans up a whole mess of pedals, and the subsequent problems they can have not getting along with each other and power. It was also a hassle for me to get stereo feeds as a lot of my stuff is mono and then the delays not always. I’d run a bunch of Stuff like Wah compressor dirt And distortion into an amp cabinet simulator then into my RT .20 RotaryBut I like a dirt box after that, but its stereo in and stereo out and I don’t have a stereo dirt box so it starts getting stupid there, then on to a carbon copy and Cusack ‘tap a delay’, both mono and throw a boss DD5 In there with single input and panning output (which would seem to fix a lot of stuff but the panning output only seems to work with one patch, I think number seven (E/D)!

With all the power issues and stuff not wanting to get along with each other it’s so nice to just have that one pedal which brings these new style clean tones which I didn’t really have , like a Michael Landau clean, A good handful of usable dirty sounds, and stock out of the box (some thing I have never used before with multi effects) there’s actually quite a lot of usable sounds. I do have one gripe, I don’t know if the overseas model is different from the one planned for US but the foot pedal while being pretty small for a size 11 has an extremely small amount of travel. If I place my finger underneath the front toe of the pedal, it contacts at the first joint. If I heal back on the pedal, I can only fit my Pinky in the space! It doesn’t take a Brain to notice that’s very small- Narf!!! Sorry for that! All in all my recordings sounded immediately better, and there’s a large rubber stop connected to the top of the rear of the pedal. Perhaps it’s possible to trim and recalibrate. If I decide to have another one sent out I need to see if that can be done without harm. It has a funny arcade game inside that it came stock with and I wonder if the American made version has the same. I can’t imagine anyone wanting that as opposed to some usable future. I also love looping but could do without the loop on this. Would’ve rather had XLR’s or more spatial reverbs, of which what I’ve heard so far does sound pretty cool. It’s possible I might think about jumping up a level or two now that I’ve spent that other money and waited two months I could double it.
