New pedal day is the best, isn't it?
Two new ones from Raygun FX, a custom builder in the UK. I've no affiliation ti the company but bought two fantastic pedals and wanted to share my experience!
These are custom finished pedals. The Soda Drive+ (left) is a very versatile pedal with boost/drive/fuzz settings, with a separate germanium diode for the latter. The Ghosty Mini (right) is a strange one but Raygun call it a chorus/warble/vibe and that sounds about right. It's a good modulation effect. Both are very reasonably priced - neither is close to boutique money, and as you can see the finishes are customisable if you fancy yourself as a graphics designer!
The Soda Drive+ is great on each setting. The boost is lovely to add a bit of bluesy grit, but in truth I suspect I'll leave it on the fuzz setting. It's not a totally wild fuzz but for single note lead lines on my tele and strat it sounds incredible to my ear.
The Ghosty is more of a one trick pony. It has speed and depth settings for the same effect. But it does that job well and gives a good lo-fi feel and I suspect will be great for providing secondary guitar parts.
The experience of working with Steve at Raygun has been great, he certainly seens to know his stuff and has been patient and polite throughout.
What problems do I have?
Well, I'm a tightwad. There's a full size Ghosty with an added mix control and option to choose the wave form, and Steve also makes a dual Soda Drive+ which is essentially two pedals stacked. Just would let me have two sounds dialled in at a time!
Any questions, I can try and answer!
