Just got me a Fluid Drive low gain overdrive pedal from Nocturne Brain pedals. This thing is soooo good! No coloring of your guitar and amp tones whatsoever and all the knobs (vol, gain, high, low) are highly responsive. No mid hump and the most transparent OD pedal I ever played. The Fulltone OCD and Keeley modded Blues Driver are up for sale. If you're a low to medium gain guy you should definitely check out the Fluid Drive. I for one am done looking at any more OD pedals. This one's a keeper for life! Thanks Tavo! nocturne.jpg

Tavo makes great stuff. I have his Mystery Brain and Ubangi Stomp and am currently drooling over the El Pescadero.

I removed my digital delay from my board after I got it. It gives me the sound I want much more than the DD-2 ever did.

Curious if this is similar to the Timmy?

I've bought a good number of "transparent" OD's because I use mid forward amps that don't need a pedal to make amp sounds I like.
But too much I find the pedal just sounds like I turned the amp up a little louder.
Convenient, but what is the pedal doing in terms of giving me a sound I didn't already have?

I'm asking what this pedal has to offer in terms of it's own sound?
    Is it gritty?
    Creamy?
    Fat?
    Cutting?
    Compressed sustain?
    Open sounding uncompressed?

My amps tend to compress when I turn them up, so if I use a pedal to get turned up amp sound without making the overall volume louder, it's nice to get a little more compression from the pedal, but not so much that it has no dynamics.

I guess I've become fatigued with all the talk of transparent OD.
Hard to tell if it means the pedal does almost nothing except make the amp louder?
Or if one particular pedal has a really great sound of its own?

If an OD has any great sound of its own, it's not really transparent!

I keep an Oddfellow Cave Man on my board for when I want the convenient "more of what my amp sounds like".
Got that from a PoT clone and really from a vintage DOD250 as well, which the OCD is based on but with too much added, and the Cave man is based on but with a beautifully thin bit of nothing added, just a good tone control.

I've been attracted to the idea of an OD with T&B knobs, since so many OD pedals have too much or too little bass (and treble).
A transparent OD has no more or less bass, so no need for a knob to add or subtract bass if the goal is transparent?

I already sold my Carbon Copy delay last week to make space for the Mystery Brain.

Hi there! I’ve only had this pedal a few days now and because of my location I dont have other OD’s to compare to except the ones I’ve owned i the past (first was a TS9 second a Keely modded BD-2, third was a Fulltone OCD). I didnt like the Mid hump of the TS9 at all so bought a BD-2 got it modified by Robery Keeley which was a slight improvement but then grew out of it when the Fulltone came out with the OCD. I sold the OCD last month and got the Fluid Drive after a lon research.

So hows this different than the others? Its very open sounding and doesnt sound compressed at all. No change in the basic tone of the amp (Vox Ac15c1x), all the control knobs are remarkably responsive to changes. Tried it with a LP, Tele, hollowbody Gretsch and Epi Casino. Works well with semi-hollow body/hollow body guitars just as well solid body guitars. All in all it seems to keep the fundamental guitar signal on top with the drive/gain sitting in it.

Tavo makes quality pedals. Had a Mysterybrain on my board for a couple of years now, I use it all the time. Congratulations on the FD, sounds very nice in demos.
