    My gain pedals are:

    Coppersound Foxcatcher - Bluesbreaker style
Vertex Steel String - I use as a thickening boost
ZenDrive - my primary dirt sound
OCD-Ge - my higher gain pedal

The thing all of these have in common is that they are relatively flat EQs (i.e. don't push the mids as much as a TS-style pedal.) - took me a long time to figure out that most of the time, I don't like the perceived mids bump of TS-style pedals. In the past, my favorite mids-flavored dirt box has been a Boss SD-1 and I recently realized I missed that in my arsenal for certain songs or things I am working on ( i.e. John Mayer Trio - Good Love Is On The Way [intro] )

The MXR is (as talked about by @11 Gauge in other threads) a "by the book" SD-1 with a 100Hz adjustment and that mids bump button. There is just something great about the SD-1 circuit and that 100Hz and bump that give some nice flexibility to it. And who doesn't like a gold bar?

My dirt search is complete <cough> <cough>

These pedals are great and just as you describe.

Great price, amazing quality made here in America as with all MXR stuff. Always tested these and thought the sound to be amazing!

Great take on a modified SD1. Enjoy my man.

I had one of these waaay back a couple of years ago.. although I liked it, it got bumped off the board I dont know why or what happened.. Lol..

I'm pretty set on my OD's now actually, and for some weird reason, I'm not gassing for anything OD pedal related..

I'm pretty happy with my current lineup too.

    Timmy - clean boost/tone sweetener
Ibanez Jet Driver - mid emphasis overdrive
    Little Big Muff - fuzz

These three let me cover quite a bit of tone territory

These are great pedals. I used one as my main drive tone for years.
