Found one of these used for a steal, and I’ve been searching for a cheap shimmer after borrowing a friends Fender Marine Layer for a while. This had some good reviews, and took the chance.

Came used, in the box with manual and usb cable. Built well, a step up from a Mooer mini pedal style in my opinion.

Plugged it in, and this is the main reason I wanted to review it. When daisy chained it emits a high pitched noise at all times. This is resolved when it has a dedicated power supply, even a cheap power supply brick with separate outs.

I’ve really only played with the shimmer so far, but this is worth the price alone. Took a couple hours to get the hang of tweaking the parameters on this, and the manual helped, but once I got it down I dialed in some beautiful sounds. Very lush, and organic. Add in delay and your in ambient or shoegaze heaven. Played a Ric and a Jazzmaster into it and both sounded wonderful. If I get some time I’ll play with more settings and update, but a cool little pedal.

this is a good idea to avoid the popping sound and have a trails option : plugging it in the FX loop of another pedal.

here's a useful video : 2 resistors to solder to end the popping sound when engaged .

I'm thinking about buying one ( 25$ on aliexpress) mainly for the USB interface feature ( plugged in a Windows 11 PC it's detected as an audio interface , you can play your backing tracks from Youtube or your mp3's straight through the pedal , that 's convenient !

I didn’t even realize that was what you could do with the USB cable, but that’s pretty cool. It’s a great pedal as just a pedal, but that makes it more versatile. I used it on a demo I finished today and it sounded fantastic.

I just got one from fleabay, lots of good stuff in there! I dint get a cable tho, should I feel cheated? Spring is cool too, got my Ventures on (cue pipeline). Nice to be able to control 3 parameters, whatever they are, fun!

At least it’s just a standard usb cable, so not hard to find one. I’ll have to check out the spring today when I have time. The three parameters definitely offer a lot of flexibility.

I've got one of these on the way to me - I couldn't say no to a $15 reverb pedal. Hopefully it'll be at least a $20 value!
