Well, I received the new Digitech trio pedal. This is the pedal where you play a chord sequence and then it'll play back a drum and bass part.

I had this on back order with Sweetwater for three months. Well FedEx left me a package on Thursday. So on Friday I got around to trying out the pedal and lo and behold it doesn't function properly. Was on the phone with Sweetwater's technical department yesterday. Seems it will make a great paperweight. That was a little discouraging to get a pedal that doesn't work properly.

I'll talk with my sales engineer tomorrow hopefully, I'll be able to get me a replacement out sooner than late.

Well that must have been a big let down!

I am interested to hear a real world opinion on this pedal when you get a replacement....the demos seem pretty interesting/intriguing.

I'll be getting one, but wanted to wait until it was readily available, as by then any bugs have usually been worked out. I've been the "guinea pig" on brand-new released gear and won't play that game anymore.

What exactly does "it doesn't function properly" mean?

I'm getting mine tomorrow and would like to know what to look out for.

When you power the pedal up, it is in what is called ready to learn state.

Okay let me try this again. When you plug the pedal in it is in the ready to learn state. There is a red LED for learning it flashes slowly when it is in the state. When you D press the foot switch, it is in the learn mode. This is where you strum your chord progression as you are teaching trio. Then when you depress the foot switch again to go out of the learning mode, this is when the band should kick in e.g. The drums and the bass.

However, on my Trio it doesn't do this, it goes back into the ready to learn mode.

Another thing it does when I depress the foot switch to go into the learning mode, it will start to record for two seconds then stop and then the band function will kick in. I spoke with Sweetwater's technical department about this and they said that that didn't sound right. There isn't enough information online to try to troubleshoot this particular issue as it must be to new. I have plugged in the trio many times, make sure my connections were hooked up correctly, but we still have the issues.

Sweet water was going to see if there was a possible firmware upgrade or something I could reset inside the pedal and get back to me. But I haven't heard back from them yet. If that was not an option they were going to put me back in the queue to send me out another one when they came in but that could be another month or so.

So there you have it that's the issues that I'm having.

Curious to see if anybody else has any problems when they get theirs.

Have you been to the Digitech site and downloaded the manual?

their support should have more knowledge than Sweetwater's, I suppose.
perhaps you should better get it touch with them.

Sorry to hear about the problem. I received my Trio from Sweetwater, as well. I deliberately didn't read the instructions to see how intuitive the pedal is and mine functions fine so no problems here.

I did hear that there is a new firmware update (something that makes the power-on processes of the pedal more efficient). Possibly updating the pedal's firmware might correct your issue.

The Updater is on the site: http://digitech.com/en-US/products/trio

I can't see how it might hurt.

Actually Sweetwater has reps from the bigger companies or tech trained by the major companies so they might get back to him quicker.

I didn't want to knock off Sweetwater's techs, it's just that the pedal is so brand new that your better off hearing from the horses mouth. I suppose they'd be interested to hear of any problems too.
There is a sticker on the underside of my Trio stating the firmware, I think.
    mine says:
    TRIO-V-01
I guess that's the initial software how it gets shipped. unless you have something earlier. do post it here.

There is a digitech rep that posts regularly over on TGP effects board. His screen name is DigitechRep, ha ha. Might shoot him a message over there. He's answered a lot of questions in threads about the trio.

I installed the TRIO Updater 1.0 on my Pc, connected the Trio using USB.
detected Firmware 1.1 which is currently up-to-date.
nothing else to do or see

Okay here is an update on my trio pedal. Sweetwater shipped to me a replacement pedal yesterday. It is scheduled to arrive on the 13th.

I did try the firmware up date with my current Pedal. It did not resolve the problem.
