I love the look, especially the red and sunburst ones. The pickguard and early P-bass-style control plate are stylish as hell.

What I like here, is FMIC has "cured" the bridge situation. 4 mount screws above 6 widely spaced through holes, at the very bottom of the plate. This is IMO so much better than the "Cabronita Problem" bridges.

Still, I think this should be called an Esquire. Blonde, please. And hopefully if the pickup chosen isn't perfect, some winders will develop some boutique replacement pickups to up the ante.

Did you all see the close-up of the headstock and neck?

These are a Maple fretboard glued on a Maple neck! Heel adjust, no skunk stripe and no walnut plug.

Were there any other MIA or MIM necks built like this in the last 30 years? I know some of the new Squiers are also made with separate Maple fretboards, but this is the first I've seen with a Fender decal since 1968?

Are any other Fenders like this?

    I'm sorry... That's just cool!

Clean build. Looks like Leo intended it to be a triple P90 guitar. Very cool.

I kind of like the “90” nod in the name. I swore I was done buying factory built guitars but I’m gonna have to make an exception

it depends what pictures you look at - the soup stain is on the main photo they use but disappears in other shots. So, doesn’t seem entirely clear if it has it or not.

I’m in two minds about the Noventa tele ( Noventa is Spanish for ninety,, as in P90 pickups, for anyone who hasn’t caught up) and, speaking of soup, the Fiesta Red looks a bit like tomato soup on the website.

There have been some CS reissues with the maple cap construction over the years. The only other Fender I can think of that had the separate fingerboard would be the American Elites of 2016-2019 - they had separate fingerboards and had the truss rod at the heel using the "wheel style" found on EVH Gear, Charvels, and Jacksons (not the vintage style adjuster).

I have never seen a CS with a cap. Whenever I see an alleged 60s CS with a maple fretboard, it has always been just a 50s neck with a 60s profile.

I did not know about the Elites. I’ll have to take a look at them.

    Thanks for the info.

It seems like there were a very, very few maple cap CS Teles - in the '67 Time Machine I think but maybe they were a run for some dealer. There were probably more maple cap '69 Time Machine Strats - but you'll see the '69 Strat with both maple cap and a 1-piece maple board neck.

Looks like I'm in the minority here, but these Noventas aren't doing it for me. A Tele should be a Tele, and these seem a little too far removed. Maybe they'll grow on me, who knows.

As far as I'm concerned 1 pickup guitars are a crime against humanity. If it had 2 it would be worth a try.

I see Fender ringing the changes:

    Tele -- 1 P-90
    Strat -- 2 P-90
    Jazzmaster -- 3 P-90

It would have made more sense to me if they swapped the last two.

i don't hate it and it's good Fender is continuing to try pushing new things into the market. however, their prices are getting a bit heisse for what these things are made of. i don't know - maybe inflation is to blame and it seems almost a certainty there is more of that on the way. what can ya do

    Hi.

    Wow. I totally dig these.

It's funny how aesthetics work. I was not expecting much when I clicked on the link, but then was immediately taken aback. I like the 'wood' one best-est though.

To me, these guitars look kinda edgy, like some wild person stripped down and modded their already wild Esquire. I guess that explains the aesthetics of it for me - appeals as much to my emotions and personal sensibilities as my eye.* Or, pays to remember our eyes (& ears) are informed or even driven by our hearts. Or something...
