A lot of the Ramones' oeuvre could be classified as novelty:
Almost anything by Weird Al or Ray Stevens is either a parody or novelty.
The debut of the bikini was a scandalous affair back in the day and Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini was a Brian Hyland novelty hit that followed. They weren't all that itsy bitsy or teenie weenie by today's standards though...
Oh, alright then.
But that's my lot for this thread, because this is a slippery slope that leads inexorably to the horrors of Stars on 45, The Wombles and - whisper it - The Birdie Song.
They didn't write it, of course, but 'Daydream Believer' has always had a place on my top twenty song list.

When I was a young boy my mother brought home this album... loaded with many of the songs mentioned here. From "Snoopy ss the Red Baron" and "The Purple People Eater" to "Surfin Bird".
Once I heard a song on the radio called " Shaving Cream " I could never wipe it from my mind.
