I feel like a complete twit , but I am lucky so so very lucky

this morning I had one of my special nose bleeds not to worry it was a small one about 25 min, left me a little drained , but I survived.

My kid managed to get us a new patio couch set for our gazebo on sale and with her employee discount, from her work the box weighed in at 50+ KGs about 112 lbs , no worries I have truck we removed the tonneau cover off the truck and at about 07:00 Pm we decide to go and get it, I'm still light headed after my earlier bout of how much blood i can force out my schnoz. I told her I would prefer to get it tomorrow as we had to prep for the new goodies. we get it home , I back it up to the garage door and after untying the tie down straps the box is standing straight up we decide to drop it on to it's side, this box is 6 feet tall and 3.5 feet wide.
As we are dropping it down flatter on the bed of the truck, I loose my footing and fall off the bed of the truck, as I am going down off the truck bed I notice the concrete stairs, just where my head may hit, or the concrete retaining wall also where my head may hit, neither of these are acceptable to me.
so through some quick thinking I dove to land on the drive way surface, using my elbow to break the fall and just landing on my right side , Keys are in my right pocket they crunch into my right thigh I did bang my head and neck on the drive way but I can attest that was better than the options listed above. I was monitoring my physiology to see if there was more damage than my scraped elbow and immense pain every where, I started to feel shock coming on, but with a little rest I was able to control the symptoms I got really sweaty hot, sick to my stomach, the need to void right now , the feeling I was going to pass out etc. while the pain hit. I was fine I just had to rest. if it did not settle down I would have had my kid call for some help, but I was OK , ........OH how I dread tomorrow's stiffness .

I still feel like a complete twit, If I were 16 I would have shrugged off like nothing , got up and kicked that fricken box into next week!

That’s a fairly detailed account. Falls are no joke. Hope all is okay over there coming days.
thank you,
I have the ability ( and I hope I never loose it) to anticipate situations as they happen, it has served me well in my past.

I will hurt for a few days that's a given , but nothing broken , nothing punctured, and nothing leaking out of opened body parts, so I'll take the bruises LOL lesser of all evils ( must be my Neanderthal blood )

I slipped on a wet sloping boardwalk the other day, and as I was going down I had SO MUCH TIME to watch it happen, to think “I can recover. Hmm, I’m still falling. Dammit, I used to be able to catch myself in a situation like this. Nope, I’m going all the way. I can’t believe it. How embarrassing. I guess I’m old. Hope I don’t roll off the boardwalk into the marsh. Jeez I’m going to roll into the marsh. I refuse to roll into the marsh. Whew okay.” Half a second. 😅

Luckily I landed on the satchel I had slung across my shoulder and didn’t bruise my tailbone or hit my head.

Ho-leee!

I don't know if NSAIDS are a thing for you, but whenever I go down I pop a few for 24-48 hours to take the edge off and help keep swelling down. Mojo!

But, did you finish the delivery and assemble all the furniture?
that thought was abandoned for the moment, we have to prep for the new furniture to be placed and I ain't movin' too gooder right now aparently we will see what tomorrow brings and if my T-3s kick in! LOL
As far as you know. Broken ribs have a weird onset, as pain might come after a week, so keep an eye on that. I hope you recover soon.
Thank you very much
I landed on my right side elbow and it took the hit , a little road rash, my right side clavicle right thigh, and right knee are telling me to piss off at present. so other than using semaphore flags, tap dancing, and beating small furry animals with baseball bats I should be fine in a few days ( I hope).

Yep.
I was pulling a bag of mulch off a pile a couple days ago and
went flying backwards . I am learning more how to roll when I fall
nowadays. As I get older I notice I have more body parts
that hurt I never knew I had.

Going to The Saturday jam Feb 2024 I stepped onto the porch that was covered in ice. Guitar in each hand.
As my second foot hit the ice bam guitars went flying, landed flat on my back with my left hand under me.
Damnit that hurt. My left hand and arm have never been the same.
But thank you baby Jesus for Hard guitar cases!!!!

Yikes! That's a scary fall, please keep an eye on everything and feel better soon!

Apparently not realizing I was back in heart arrhythmia, back in February I had a spell of lightheadedness and weakness, which actually kept me from going to work for a couple days. (I have one of those little Kardia fingertip ekg readers now, supposedly 92+% accurate for general information, and my cardiologists nurse practitioner approves.)

I got up from watching TV one night to refill my ice water, and in the dining room doorway I came to after some unknown period of time, face down with a bloody black eye, bruises all over one side, and what I can only assume was at least one cracked rib. Water cup in hand!

There was a little puddle of blood under my face, and my neck hurt at first to a terrifying degree. Wits about me once again, I took a gram of ibuprofen (NOT RECOMMENDED *** it's acceptable once in awhile but exceeds the label dosing****) and a hot hot shower, dreading the next few days.

I evidently had fainted so hard that I made no effort to break or control the fall-- I don't even remember falling.

My left side was sore for months...when I went to Arkansas on vacation three months later, I was just getting where I could sleep on my left side.

This was a few days later, not even immediately. No pictures of the other bruises.

Sorry for the long post....again, take care and keep us posted! I can certainly relate 😄

By the way, one second earlier and I would have face planted a little more safely, in my carpeted den. 😐
