Pretty great. Mind sharing the name of the store?
Sure thing, northwest lumber Co in Indianapolis.
Most of the rough shaping on the neck is done!
More neck progress, and headstock roughed out.
Also dyed the first few coats, it's not too shabby.
Wow checkout that green!
Just wanted to say It's looking awesome!!
YES ! A volute ! Cool beans. You don't seen them enough on electric guitars anymore.
Looking really sweet, the contrast of that mahogany and green is real tasteful.
Almost there! Frets in and level (mostly), zpoxy finishing resin on (needs leveling then final coat) and we're almost in business!
Update - nearly done!
Still needs some electronics work, and a final clear coat. Thinking a thin wipe on poly would be the way to go, or a very thin coat of zpoxy applied with a coffee filter for that last bit of pop and shine.
Looks great! Not sure why you would shield humbuckers though.
I didn't shield the humbuckers, just the electronics cavity. Keeps cell phones from interfering too much. My last project, I didn't shield either, and if my phone is in my pocket I get all sorts of fun noises.
Oh! Forgot, I made the truss rod cover out of some scrap flame maple I had lying around. I free handed a rosetta (a little green rosetta, because it makes an sg betta) and filled with mica powder and CA glue.
In case you missed the joke, my friend is a huge zappa fan.
Great work! What accounts for the color difference between post #29 and #30? Is it just the difference between outdoor lighting and indoor lighting? Seem a lot darker in the most recent pics.
Yeah, that's exactly it. sunlight vs backlit indoors shots.
Nice work Treadplate.
I'm going to copy your tr cover shape because my trussrod came out much the same as yours.
I wasn't too sure about green at first, but that turned out very nice.
Decided to do final finish in solarez I can't believe it's not lacquer uv coating.
Then the sun disappeared lol. So, I improvised!
Looking forward to seeing the finished guitar.
Mine is currently in the 30 day wait-state after the last coat of lacquer, so no progress.
Whoa dude, that’s looking real suave. Can’t wait to get into my own version, but got three Tele’s and two originals on the go!
