Currently doing adult social work contracts, mostly ‘forensic’ caseload at the moment - adults with autism/ challenging behaviour/ learning disabilities who have been in trouble with the law. Taking minimum pension from 2020 and topping it up with something less stressful all being well. My clients aren’t the stress, it’s the ridiculous bureaucracy.

I worked for 20+ years in the medical field, biomedical (equipment) technician, then facilities management, then Director of Environment of Care (Plant Operations/Dietary/Housekeeping/Safety Director). I worked in everything from dialysis centers to hospitals to psychiatric facilities.

I escaped that horrible field and went into a position as Site Safety Coordinator for a large construction and service company. Half the money, twice the satisfaction.

    32 years?!?!?!!

That's amazing for this industry. The longest I've been able to work one place is just shy of 5 years. The way it has usually worked is that things change after about 3 to 5 years. Either the company drastically downsizes/reorganizes or there's a management/ownership change. Both resulted in massive "reductions in force"
