Today almost everyone is on a computer (aka smartphone) all day. Of course, that excludes guitar forum flip phone curmudgeons.

My story, too. Municipal government, 35 years. Loved it! Now retired.

Now I work full time fighting cancer. Hate it! (But I’m still here.)

    Gidday Larry!

Yeah things improve every day e.g. The Coclear Implants etc (Aussie invention of course) as well as better frequency band separation to cater for specific frequency loss and more sophistication with control of hearing aids.

I myself wish they could develop a cure for tinnitus. I have always had this noise in my head and thought it was normal until I found out that not everyone has it. When working in the industry I had the equipment to frequency check it and my core tinnitus is fixed around 4.8khz with harmonic oscillations at a lesser gain than the core but after 71 years I have learned to live with it mostly, but not always!

Working in the industry I was amazed to find that some profoundly deaf people have it and others do not. I worked with two profoundly deaf Audiologists one had it the other didn't ............!

Tinnitus is caused by the nerves in the coclear which are supposed to stand straight like corn growing in a paddock without touching each other. Through accidents or just the way you are made some of these nerves touch and cause the noises in the head. Don't know how but there are lots of scammers who try to sell tablets to cure it or the wacko brigade tell you to rub garlic or other such miracle cure or your ear lobe.............can't do anything of course except make you smell bad!

Professor. My field is Restoration and 18th-Century British Lit.

I realized decades ago that I was neither Ginger, Maryanne, Mrs. or Mr. Howell, nor the Skipper. I didn’t wish to be Gilligan. On my island, that left only one option.

Lawyer - mainly working as legal guardian for people unable to handle their affairs due to mental or physical restriction/disability/disease.
But also in cases of personal injury and damages from traffic accidents, thus mainly dealing with insurances....

Growing market as people lives longer and longer.

Even thought Code civil is pretty clear on mental restriction, there's not so much lawyer going on this market.

As far as I know, German pay less Damages than us when dealing with personal injury.

So lawyers market might not be the same.
