I bought a dual momentary footswitch for my Boss MS3 for scrolling through banks. I just set it up and when I hit one of the switches it just keeps scrolling. I have to hold down the switch to get it to stop. I think this means the switches are wired as normally open. I need them normally closed. Here's what the wiring looks like. Any tips on how I could resolder to normally close the two switches? 7EE745CB-23F7-47BF-A5E9-DCEA4E0E4FF9.jpeg

Flip the black and red at jack.

There's two separate poles with a red from each and then a common with the blacks. So you're saying separate the blacks to each of the two the reds are currently on, then make the reds both go to the same common the blacks are currently on?

Either that or swap them at the switches

That behavior sounds more like the switches are latching like you'd find on for the trem/reverb switches on an amplifier. Does the MS-3 start scrolling when you tap a switch and stop if you tap it again? Most Boss products take normally-open and SPST switches can't be changed to normally-closed just by rearranging the wiring.

Yeah, I just swapped the wires and the same thing is still happening - once I tap a switch it just starts scrolling (really fast). It only stops scrolling if I hold the switch down, then when I release it starts scrolling again. Any ideas?

I think at this point, you need to disconnect it from the MS-3 and use a meter to see what's actually going on with the switches.

Ok, they are definitely momentary switches and are normally open. I checked with Boss and definitely need ultimately closed for this functionality with the MS3. Is it possible to rewire to achieve this, or will I just need new switches?

    You'd need normally-closed or double-throw switches.
