    12 fret D ? Too boomy .

    Bar frets ? No thanks.

    All them zeros ? C’mon.

Actually, think about it: at some point they were bandying about a $1 million price tag . Then to make sure they get it , someone arbitrarily said “well, how about $3 million ? Then when we come down on the price , the guy will think he’s getting a deal !”

Bottom line : it’s tied to Norman Blake just as much as it’s “the only shade top like this ever made !”

And , the people who give a rats ass whom Norman Blake is are dying every day. So - better to sell now at whatever price they can get for it ...

I've already made a legitimate offer, I'm awaiting a response.

I think we might be having some of them irreconcilable differences of opinion here.

    No.

But , the amount of qualified buyers (rich old folkies) is small. And if you were to offer them the opportunity to buy that or a pre-war D-45, the majority are going to go for the pearl.

And how much are those ? $350,000 would get you a clean one.

Of course as stated by several who find this man to be iconic, this is a very valuable instrument. However currently at Emerald City Guitars in Seattle sits two original '59 Les Pauls and one '60. Combined cost of all three is around 1Mill. If we are talking about blowing hypothetical money, Id take those three all day at 1/3 the price over this Martin.

The journey for a Bluegrass musician is not an easy one. Probable Norman Blake, and Tony Rice knew it better than anyone.

My wife's family is from Sendai, the land of Masamune. If only you could see my impression of him (he was blind in one eye and wore an eye patch -- The impression is freakin' hilarious, but you have to be within 18 inches of my face to get the full effect!)

Even if I had a billion (I only have $700 million), I wouldn't buy it.
