My wife surprised me with a trip to New Orleans this weekend. I haven't been there since 2001 and that was for New Years Eve. I was young and didn't get a real chance to explore as I like to now.

I'm looking for the must visit spots for music. Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

Tipitina's, Howlin Wolf, Rock n Bowl, The Maple Leaf and Snake n Jakes (no music but you'll be glad you went).

Can't swing a dead cat without hitting an amazing musician down there. Frenchman Street is particularly great for that.

A more important question to ask a resident is: where do you like to eat?

I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

Try to be flexible if the place you go has little or no available local seafood. I've cut back ( as have other locals ) and eating a little different to try and make what is out there available to one time visitors.

The wind was blowing out of the North or something today. It was fairly dry and pleasant. I was able to get some work done on the house through the lunch hour and that has generally been more than I could stand for about 4 weeks now. Your timing is exquisite.

But doubtless you're already on the airplane coming here by this hour. I hope you have a great time!
