I’m pretty tempted by one of the myself! He also has that preamp paired with a Chess-style reverb in a single stomp box called the El Pescadoro. The RJ Ronquillo demo sounds fantastic.

The owner of the company is a member of the Gretsch forum and is very highly regarded over there. His space echo style pedal is a big hit.

Thanks I just ordered one of these, can't wait till the end of September when they ship.

Wonder if they will pare well with SS amps like the Fender Tone Masters

I know YouTube demos are not the best way to evaluate a pedal, but this just sounds like a muddy Tube Screamer to me.

Go to 4:25 in that second demo video, where he demonstrates the pedal by itself. Sounds terrible to my ears. Just muddy and broken sounding. Sorry, just being honest.

I'm not hearing pre-war or late 40s/50s tone there. An octal 6SC7/6SN7 preamp would be a much better solution.

I've got one of the first generation. I don't know what if anything has changed. I love it. It's been on my pedal board since I bought it and it's my go to pedal when I want some overdrive, but not too much. It would probably get much more overdriven, but that's not what I use it for. I highly recommend it. I've owned several of this guys pedals and they've all been extremely high quality and exactly as advertised.

I’ve had one for a few yrs, great little pre for an old school vibe, swing or jump blues. I esp like it into a small lower headroom amp with some P90s.
Lots of people pair it with the Quilter heads, so I’m sure it will sound fine into a SS amp.
I also have an El Pesc, which is like half of a Jr B, less gain and adjustment, into a killer reverb.
An added bonus is the Jr B is also good on upright bass, and ac guitar.
It is an acquired taste tho. IMO awesome for some things and kinda weird and wonky in other applications.

I have an El Pescadoro, love it, can get through a night with just that and a clip tuner. It is a character pedal in spades, though, and its not hard for me to imagine a player hating it. It seems to be quite well-made, just based on a few months' experience. Noise floor with both sides on is quite high, not enough to bother me in a playing situation with drums etc but it definitely makes a racket. It definitely works as advertised; whether that's the right sound for you or not is impossible to tell from here. But I dig mine.

I owned one, and several Atomic Brains. Well made, nice colors, etc. The Junior Barnyard does that thing it does exactly as it should, if that makes sense lol. I was also able to ape most of the tone with a Timmy, toggle all the way up and treble rolled down. No, its not exactly the same thing but good enough for me.

That being said, the Mystery Brain is a keeper.

I can see your house from here.
Just so we all know who Junior Barnard was and why this pedal sounds like it does:

I have a JR Barnyard on order. Nocturne is big with the Gretsch crowd.

I had the 1st generation, I traded up for a new one (Tavo is an old friend). It's a great pedal that DOES get the octal sound. It really can turn a tele and a Princeton into a ES-125 and an octal amp. (I own an octal amp as well, with a 6SJ7 preamp). It's instant T-Bone Walker/Charlie Christian/Junior Banard. Having an actual hollowbody helps of course, but the pedal apes the sound very well with a solid body like a tele. That old school grindy jump blues thing.

    Tavo (Nocturne) makes good stuff.

Thanks. Don't have a big box jazz guitar, but have high hopes with my Tele and Epiphone Casino.
