It has been 20 years since I tried this beer, Grolsch. It was really really good. Tastes like a beer
should. No fruit or bitter look, just relaxing and tasteful.

Maybe I should look for some more beers of yesteryear. I remember as a kid my dad would have Lowenbrau. I can't find that anymore. I remember that went non-import for awhile, and they they
went back to the import which was much better.

I never bought any beer online, but, I heard you can do that. I am not sure our UPS guy
could get it here without the bottle breaking. lol

Glad they still sell some state side. I have a couple saved for weekend.

I have to admit, I am non-IPA follower.

I am a Heineken guy, but if I ever see Grolsch in the cooler (very rare), that’s a must grab. It’s the highest form of the Dutch style lager.

Decals, or peeled off labels? o_O

Grolsch is pretty good, though not my thing. I’m glad they’re no longer an A-B InBev product, since I won’t touch anything they make.

I'm in total agreement on Grolsch!
    It's my go-to beer.
I love a couple of Canadian beers, Kokkanee and Sleeman's Honey Brown.
For non-standard stuff, I like Abita Purple Haze!
    Can't bear IPA's.

This is the old beer my father sent me to get from the fridge. I hear they have revived the brand so I guess it's a new old beer.

Just curious...I like most beers, even fancy small brewers etc. My basic affordable go to has always been Bud in bottles. I hate anything in a can. But what's wrong with A-B InBev? Did they do something bad?

I remember these but not sure they make anymore. Fine French premium beer. 6953EEB8-7883-4522-A2C4-D934CB6C2E77.jpeg

I am generally an IPA guy, but for the cold, dark months I tend to go to the dark, heavy stuff. But every once in a while I go looking for “regular beer”. Fortunately that ‘brew style’ is making something of a comeback...locally I get it from Victory as “classic Lager”. Lovely change of pace once in a while, but IPA will be back on the menu shortly!

I'm like you during the colder months, going for the stouts and porters. In warmer months I head to ales, lagers and pilsners.
Founders, Harpoon, Yards and Great Lakes are the brewers I usually bring home the most.
IPAs are ok, but they cannot be over hopped or they are ruined, in my tasteful opinion. :)

It probably goes without saying but make sure to check who is actually brewing that old brand these days. I used to like Beck's a lot and when I revisited it, it had a harsh taste that wasn't right. A look at the fine print and yep, it had been taken over by one of the Bud or Miller groups. A sad ending.

I quaffed one of these last night! Don't forget the puzzle that's under the cap.

I've been on a "vintage" beer tear lately. A few of my favs aren't around anymore, like Pearl, Country Club, and Strohs. But, a few others are still around, PBR, Natty Light, Busch Light, and there's a rumor that Sterling may come back!

PS - I was making IPAs before any were available commercially. Made my own stouts, porters, etc. We had a nice club. Great stuff. But just like a cheeseburger is different than a ribeye, I totally get and value a cheeseburger, the same way I really enjoy a good ole American beer. When is Schlitz coming back?

PPS - Goebels and Schaffer are gone I think. We were totally offended with these, after a day of guzzling, no buzz, and realized they were like a 2% beer, lol. Badge of shame ever since. Haven't seen Old Style of late, nor Wiedemanns (the original "WEED"), Black Label, or Blatz.

Oh, and I discovered Keystone Light. Its Coors Light packaged for a cheaper price point.

PPPS - Grolsch is on the list for sure. I've got 150+ bottles with ceramic tops in the basement, that I used for brewing. Moosehead is on the list too, for sentimental reasons. What happened to Tuborg Gold, and Kronenberg?

Old school for the IPA crowd. Don't forget your station wagon and totally authentic duck hunting apparel.

The Midwest is chock full of brewpubs. If you are anywhere near Bellaire, MI, stop in at Short's. There are always at least 20 brews on tap all brewed in the back. There is something for everyone.

I was the beer fetcher in my family also. Although as a kid my dad kept the beer in the fridge in the basement so that was always an experience for a kid.

Schafer is the one beer to have when your having more than one..
    Still rings in my head

    Strange how times change.
I would have never had my daughter when she was a kid go get my beer if I was drinking.
I would have gotten off my butt and gotten it myself.
