Basically on a mountain in Turkey it was once 'found' via satellite in 1961 but discredited. Recently another group of ark hunters visited the site with ground penetrating radar and produced 3-D scans. The scans showed a boat-shaped object with 'boxes' in it. The claim is these boxes can't be found in nature and are man-made pens. The next step it to drill for core samples in the hope the boxes are wooden.

You can read about it below and see the scans. I still remember Bill Cosby's skit he's sawing and ... foo-bah-foo-bah Hey Noah! What is that thing? It's an ark! Right ... get it out of my driveway!

I would look near water, not on the top of a mountain, but that’s just me.

A guy test drove the car I was selling, he came back and said "the engine is missing" so I popped the hood, pointed at what was under it and said "there it is"

Interesting, last I heard it was cut into pieces and sold. Claims were that the wood had special power in it. Gopher wood was a preflood tree that supposedly doesn't exist anymore.

Of course, a world-submerging flood introduces the possibility that the ark would have been left on the top of a mountain as the water receded. But it's just a little too perfect, isn't it?

I mean, 2/3 of the Earth's surface is water. Assuming the same coverage before and after the flood, that's a 66%+ change that the ark just stayed on some water somewhere.

Quite a few mountains have fossils from life that only existed in oceans.

If there are flood waters receding and a mountain top becomes exposed, I'd probably dock there.

If the water recedes further, and the boat gets beached, it makes sense that a boat could be on land.

Seems logical to me the boat would be near where people got off.

Many cultures had "great flood" stories. Who knows if any or all are true, the magnitude of any, whether any recount the same flood.

I'm interested to see what they find regardless of any connection to any flood story.

Would Gopher wood be a good tone wood? How would it compare to ash or maple?

He said "special powers." It's obviously a tone wood.

The Ark of the Covenant, the ark that attracts Nazis, was made of ****tim wood. My brother and I got kicked out of sunday school for giggling uncontrollably at that one. I'm guessing not a good tone wood.

I saw a really good documentary some years back that delved into all of the stories that told of very similar events that were recorded in the various, err, historical documents (trying to stay within the rules here). I wish I could remember what it was called, because it was pretty interesting.

Oh, never heard that term. It would have gotten me in trouble too.
