I was more impressed when Andy Taylor went into space in a used Cement mixture tumbler....what was the name of the tv show anyway?

I agree, aren’t there some jets that get pretty dang close to where these private “space” ships are going?

It doesn't really matter. They'll make up their own wings.

It's just like when a vehicle maker touts their crapbox as "best in class," because it's the only vehicle in its class, which is a class made up by the manufacturer for that specific vehicle.

The mega rich once put their wealth into projects like slum clearance (Burdett-Coutts), affordable housing (Peabody), workers conditions (Cadbury), public libraries (Carnegie)...

On my first flight at the age of eleven I received flight wings from American Airlines. That didn't make me a pilot.
Richy Rich isn't an astronaut either. Just a passenger with a very expensive ticket.

Because life is precious and short, if I had that kind of money I would help close family and friends, put some cash on social causes but also consider something extraordinary like space travel.
There’s no reason for not doing it all.

Back when I was an AF flyer, we called passengers "self-loading cargo."

In the 1990s I was flying commercial air through Phoenix, and my connecting flight was about 20 minutes late leaving the gate. One of the flight crew announced over the PA, "We apologize for the delay, but we're waiting on a couple of late bags." About three seconds later, two very elderly women trundled onto the jet. A few people (including myself) busted out laughing.

I've been on lots of commercial airline flights. Do you mean to say that I'm not a pilot just because I didn't fly the plane?

I think it's depressing. They accomplish so little, and nothing new.

Real astronauts earn their place with hard work and intelligence, not by throwing wealth around. Real astronauts go all the way into space to perform specific tasks and risk reentry, not to emulate the same sensation you can feel by chartering a flight in a vomit comet. Real astronauts earn their respect, not try to buy some.

I don't like Bezos or anything about him, starting with Amazon continuously raising the price of my album while offering me less($17 and $4 to me when I pulled it). I still can't find anything, however, that indicates he considered himself an astronaut in the first place.

It’s progress. Everything starts small and with the super wealthy having the first crack at it before it becomes more available for the rest of the population. That’s just how human existence works. Not saying it’s right, but it’s absolutely true.

People are scoffing at this, and I suppose that’s fair, these billionaires are total knobs. But in a few years time these types of programs will be expanding their capabilities and I’d imagine it’ll be pretty amazing what is possible.

Technology is still evolving at a rapid pace and will continue to.
