Get your pallet wood here for your next build. Home Depot has you covered.
Wow…that’s some gall. $30.00 for splintery nasty oak.
Why take apart a pallet for free when i can buy the boards for $30? I can see those boards are straight and free of defects.
Well there was a wood shortage!!
Yeah but it’s so crazy , that it just. Might. Work !
They dont even give you the spacer blocks or nails. Ripoff.
A friend of mine made a wall like the one in the first post from old nasty pallets from my business. What a lot of work power washing and removing and de-nailing the boards. It came out nice though.
They can often be had on Facebook marketplace.
Just go to your local landfill/dump - there are usually a lot of free pallets sitting around. And here’s what you can make with those pallets…
I’ve taken apart a few pallets. It’s a lot of work. $30 is cheap labour!
Considering the cost in effort, the cost of the hardware etc., of making a guitar, it doesn't seem like it should be too much to go out and buy a decent piece of wood for the body. Pallets may contain some decent wood, though you can hardly count on it, but it was probably milled green, which can cause all sorts of problems.
This one is made from scrap, but it isn't a pallet. Bob Taylor made one from a pallet.
Price just went to $60.
Be careful of pallet boards. A lot of that wood comes from Asia containing borers and other invasive insects. You don’t need free wood that badly.
There are some creative things you can do with recycled pallet wood. Those Home Depot prices are a bit high though. I paid about $1 apiece for these pieces.
Has the home depot wood been cleaned of the rat poo and pee and warehouse who-knows-what?
Got 25 acre's of trees in my back yard and a chain saw. Going to go look and see what's on the ground tomorrow.
Pallets are hard to take apart.
You don’t wind up with much for your efforts.
But free is free.
I wouldn’t pay for that quality of material.
