Well apparently there is a coin shortage at the moment so I could see some places trying not to use them. And if it's just a few cents I really dont care. But if I hand over a 20 for 15 bucks there better be a five or five ones coming my way

Crazy. I’ve heard there is a coin shortage, but I haven’t heard why.

Apparently, it was tweeted that walking around with a penny up your bum and one in your mouth keeps away the "sickness". Does that make cents?

Does that mean I can pay a $12 food bill with a ten and call it quits?

If its posted visibly and ahead of sale - fine, informed consent. If they tried it @ the checkout, I'd refuse the transaction methinks

I've been using my debit card most of the time during this "issue" to avoid passing "stuff" back and forth between me and the clerk. But if you do pay cash they still give you the dollar bills and change here. Ace Hardware, even before the issue, asks you if you want to donate the coin change to a local charity and round up to the next dollar, and I usually do that.

Wait - what is this “cash” thing y’all are talking about ?

You mean like the paper and little metal discs people used to use back in , uh 2005 or so ? (Trying to remember the last time I saw/used it...)

Where d’ya think those kids found it ? Messing around in Grandpa’s bureau ?

Serves ‘em right - taking pop-pop’s collectibles !

I have always been short on coin, but somehow not short on guitars. Wonder if there's a connection there.

This is all news to me, well..except Mike doesn't use cash.

So, where are all the coins?

I did a little searching, mine are all still here.

I understand that there is less commerce due to some issue we can't talk about. That should mean, at least to me, there are more coins available. Are people hoarding those too?

When you walk in the door, they confiscate your wallet ...

And then they throw you out the door ...

If you're lucky, they don't beat you up ... and call the cops ... who will beat you again ...

There's been talk about eliminating the penny in the US because it costs more to mint them then they're worth, they're just copper plated zinc. Just eliminate the pennies and round prices to 5 cents increments.
