I love .420 bore but it's expensive to shoot.
The permissible shell length may be stamped on the firearm somewhere, likely near the stated caliber (or bore). My old .410 is stamped 3", although I've never once used anything but 2 3/4".
I shot a .44 Magnum. Once. Some folks are just addicted to more and more power in pistols. I knew an ex-marine who had a .454 Casull pistol. He took me out and demonstrated how it kicked. He was a big old brute probably six foot five inches tall and weighed about two hundred and sixty pounds of mostly muscle.
I watched that thing nearly bang his head several times as he was firing at targets about one hundred yards away, and quite successfully at that. He asked me if I wanted to shoot it, I told him not as long as I stay in my right mind.
Hey I pass by that place a few times per year. I’ve never been in it. I had no idea they were a major online retailer.
2 1/2. Haven't messed with it in years, and you are correct.
That is awesome. I hunted them in high school with my buddies, one of whom had a great dog.My place is sanctuary to dozens of quail, my apology to the hundreds that I shot in my youth. I have the two .410s now, from my dad's guns, but haven't fired them since those days
I second palmetto armory. I have a 410 for varmint protection and own two boxes of shells. That’s enough to fend of swamp creatures for the time being.@Gladhander
410 shotshells are standard size.
It's cheapest to buy locally because ammo is heavy and shipping jacks up the cost.
If you have Cabela's/Bass Pro/Shiel's/etc., buy there. If out of stock, place an order.
For online, check Palmetto State Armory. They have sales and list the price per round so you can easily comparison shop.
What a beautiful bird…very unique looking also….I love all the different colors and the patterns of the feathers.
My favorite bird. I love its call, and the whirring sound of its flightWhat a beautiful bird…very unique looking also….I love all the different colors and the patterns of the feathers.
I was in a situation where I shot about 150 3" magnum 12 gauge shells in an old 870 pump one time. I was supposed to shoot two days, one of my good clients saw that my arm had turned blue clear down to my forearm and asked me what the heck I had done to myself.I shot a .44 Magnum. Once.
I learned pretty young, that guns big enough to be uncomfortable shooting are something I would never become proficient with. So I stick with my .38 and 9mm pistols, and I have a 12gauge that I would sell because I recently bought my first 20 and love it.
A pharmacist acquaintance of mine, big fellow as you described, had a .500 Smith & Wesson. I asked him how often he took it out, and he said not often. It kicked like a rented mule and cost him a couple of dollars every time he pulled the trigger.
No thanks.
Shouldn't be a problem. Guns and guitars are essential household items. They also lend themselves to collecting, just like guitars.I've actually traded a gun for a guitar. I'd love to see a thread for firearms here. This is a very cool thread...i hope nobody gets it locked. My maternal grandfather also bought me my first firearm, an H&R Topper Model 158. .410.
It is still as tight as the day I opened the present, and although I sold a lot of beloved guns in a divorce panic, I'll never part with this, for obvious reasons.
I did reluctantly have the barrel shortened to 18.5" for like a truck gun or snake charmer. I only did so after I bought my third Mossberg pump gun.
I'd like to have a semi auto but I think I'm a bit old to buy anything else.
I do agree we need a firearms thread here, but they tend to bring out the worst in all but the veteran members. Unfortunately.
