Stubee ain’t my name but that’s what a ton of guys call me. And I was hung with SSOOD after an icy night in my ‘59 Chevy: Stubee Stay Out Of Ditches!

All my high school friends have nicknames: Ooch, Midge, Hank, Rock, Grub, Hoagie, Lo, and on and on.

My name is Don but friends and family have called me Scooch for as long as I can remember. I thought I'd grow out of it at some point, and would even try to introduce myself as Don once I started going out to bars and whatnot, if meeting a girl or whatever...but my friends would always chime in with "that's not his name".

The nickname comes from the Italian expression "scooch a menz", combined with the fact that I'm a Junior, and growing up on our street there were two other families across the way that we were friends with that had Don and Don Jr's...the one family even had 3 Dons, so with literally 7 Dons in 3 families it helped to have a nickname to distinguish all us apart. They started calling me that jokingly as a toddler and one of my mom's friends thought it was particularly funny and ran with it, so I'm told. On top of that, my best friend is named Don too.

At this point I can't shake it, is what it is. I'm now 43 years old and I'd say about 80-90% of people who know me call me Scooch. If not that then it's usually Donnie.

My brother’s name was Lary and some of his friends called him One R.
I’ve never written that down so I wasn’t sure to spell One R or 1R.

Never had a nickname until 8 years ago, when I became Grampy. It was worth the wait.

earliest nickname came from my dad: I was a skinny kid, so he called me "Bones". Some of my bandmates today still use that.

One neighborhood we lived in had something like five dads and sons who were named Bill so my designated billness was billbo. I wasn't overly crazy about that version, but what ya gonna do?

otherwise, from other bands (and because my name is Bill), one guy would introduce me as "Broadway Bill" and in response, I said, yeah, "off-broadway, like, way, way off-broadway" - so that sort of stuck - "Off-Broadway"

Reedo has been a lifelong nickname for me, as soon as one lot of friends used it, another lot would copy and so on. My wife, however calls me Stefano (my name is Stephen, I prefer Steve) and my 2 boys call me Popsicle.
