I'm kinda interested but I know the pickups have probably been stolen off the guitar by the GC dorks. I've been ripped off before in such fashion. I want to try to learn some Duane Allman slide parts for fun but am afraid I'll lose interest before long...

Maybe have them open it up and prove the originality?

I always wondered what kept people from selling GC expensive used gear with no name pickups. Is there anything that does?

At the same time, if your ears can't tell you the pickups have been stolen, there's no issue..

Might go for a Gibson Flying V instead.

I’m a huge fan of Flying V’s...the looks, the sound, the feel...

Can't really play them sitting down comfortably though.

Not if you try to play it in the same way as a LP, Tele, Strat, or anything similar. I play my V sitting down quite often. Just have to adapt is all.

You do know they can "steal " the pickups in the V as well right;).

Unless I am buying a guitar for investment, it is all about the tone and feel for me.
Years ago I purchased what seems to be a refin 63 tele blackguard. When I asked the seller what it was, he said not sure, and asked what I thought it was.
I contacted a local luthier that is well respected, and knowledgeable. He told me the electronics are 1950's, and the neck is a 50's soft V. He took it apart and checked it out originally for the seller. His issue was the body. He told me it appeared to be a refin, but.... he could not find signs of refinish. He could identify the wood as swamp ash. He decided: It was a really high quality refin, or a high quality replica body. (correct router hump, holes ect.-but not tell tell signs of refin.) I finally decided the price was-1. a steal for a blackguard refin, or a fair price for a blackguard replica. I really liked the tone and feel and bought it. Never looked back.
I did not buy for investment, but for a player. YMMV. good luck.

Have them open it up for you to check. Or if it's online, call and ask them to text you some pics. The return policy is an absurd 180 days right now, and if it's not as described they eat the shipping. GC is nearly risk-free, IMO. You got 6 months to lose interest.

    LOL!

That's like having a fox guard the chicken house or something like that.

I think I'm just gonna get an Epi Flying V. I want a white one but they only have black.

With GC’s return policy you could take it apart at home and verify the innards and take it back if you’re not satisfied.
