I got a good deal, so I broke down and snagged one a those new Gibson Theodore Standards.

The guitar plays and sounds great. The rosewood fingerboard and Plek'd fretwork is perfect and it plays very smooth and fast. The body and neck are resonant and vibrate in your hand and against your tummy when playing. The '57 Classic and Classic Plus HBs are sweet and musical sounding and have some power to push the amp when wanted. The guitar is compact and ergonomic, everything like controls and 1st fret location are where you expect them to be. It's lightweight at six and three quarter pounds and balances well on a strap.

I was disappointed at the hardshell case though. It's a rectangular Fender style, and is bigger than it needs to be. The case weighs a ton and is awkward and unwieldy to carry. I expected a smaller form fit case like the LPs and SGs got. Oh well, at least the guitar is nice. I'll just use one of my Gibson soft cases for driving it to gigs.

The guitar still looks a little phugly to my eyes, but after playing it, it's starting to grow on me.

It looks like it's made of leftover parts . . . but it's turned out pretty cool! I prefer it to most of Gibson's offerings.

Congratulations! I love that it's so unique. And light weight which appeals to my back.
