Just got this beauty. Love the color in person more than in the pics and I think I do feel/hear a difference between this fretboard and my maple ones. Played it just bit on both the Champster in the pic and my 5e3 clone and both sound awesome. Seems like these pickups give a bit more punch than the ones on my 50's Baja. The one negative thing was that I paid SW extra to do a set up with the strings moderately low. I think he heard moderately high. Oh well, big fun! IMG_0040.jpg

Very nice. I like that you paired it with that strap. Nice touch!

Thanks guys. She's sweet. I'll have more of chance to play it tomorrow.

@Smokin OP Got the strap a week before the guitar. Knew it would be a good match.

@sonny wolf I'll post another pic tomorrow morning.

    It’s a 60’s
It's basically a 60's version of the Baja

That's kinda what I would've assumed, but was thrown by the statement "Seems like these pickups give a bit more punch than the ones on my 50's Baja." I had thought I read that the pups in the '50s Baja were the more pronounced and powerful of the two models. Maybe my brain is simply suffering from the GAS inspired by your great new Tele! :D

Maple on the back side of the neck and rosewood board? That's exactly the neck I want on my Tele. I have one on my Strat and love it. Currently my Tele has a high gloss maple neck which I really don't like it. BUT...my guitar is an FSR and 1 of 200 made so just ditching it is not an option. I'd like to go back and forth between rosewood and maple though.

Very nice guitar! Always loved the sonic blue with mint guard.

You must be able to find videos easily on YouTube that will show you how to do it yourself. Nice guitar, congrats!

Congratulations!!! I love my '60s Baja. Unfortunately, mine is the sunburst, but I want the faded sonic blue sooooo bad.

    It’s a 60’sq
That's what I thought too but so far that's not the way I'm experiencing them. Maybe its just difference that I'm picking up on but they are certainly not slouchy.

Heres another pic but I don't think it shows off the color as well as the first one.

@jpjr50 - Maple back and Pau Ferro on top.

All the videos give me the impression that it's easy to raise or lower the action but that it's a combo of neck, intonation and action. It wouldn't need much. Maybe I'll give it a try.
