As I have come to embrace in my oh-so-many-years on this earth, I am a tele guy. I'm not a strat, PRS, or LP guy. However, that does not keep me from looking at other stringed instruments. Early yesterday morning, I perused the local list of Craig and found a posting that seemed too good to be true - a matte black finished Harley Benton SC-450 with an asking price below $100. I contacted the seller and agreed to meet later in the day. He claims to have purchased a batch of different Harley Benton guitars direct from Thomann to see what he might bond with. This particular one was "damaged" and they simply refunded him, purportedly telling him that it was not worth the hassle to return the guitar. So, for a single piece of official US Government currency portraying President US Grant, I received this Oh, and the damage ... a couple of dings and this -a broken switch knob. I am impressed with the Harley Benton line. This one plays well and sounds pretty good out of the box, but it also reminded me that more than 1 volume and tone knob are wasted on me. The matte black and gold knobs aren't really my thing either, but hey, it was a deal.
