I had to visit my local store yesterday and try this one out. It came home with me. Others here have shared their appreciation for the Gretsch G5220, and I'm now finding out why. 7.4 lbs, feels good, extremely high build quality. Set-up is pretty good, also, but I'll play it for a while to decide whether to tweak it. I took the pick guard off to adjust the pick up height and may leave it off. I'll upload some better photos when I get some sunshine.

VERY nice looking axe, SuprHtr! I love the warmth and sparkle in the body grain, coupled with the MOP inlays - very pretty axe. :)

...and being 7.4 pounds is icing on the cake! ;)

I had been eyeing these REAL hard. All reports are that they punch WELL above their class. I have a buddy who is a big Gretsch freak. He owns many high end MIA and MIJ Gretsch guitars, and also three of these. He keeps inviting me over to check them out, but I’m not really into socializing currently. He swears they are very close to the quality level of his much more expensive Jets.

    congrats!!
