A drunk neighbor buddy stopped by to talk music and lots of other things. We get to talking and he’s got an Epi Nighthawk that he bought used, layed once, and put back in storage. I’ve wanted one since they came out. So he texts me the yesterday and says $350. Sold! It is a weird animal! Snappy and bright. I had forgotten the 25.5” scale. Pretty much a Strat/Paulenstein. Mini hum in the neck is great for single notes but turns to mud with chords. Should be a lot of fun! Tons of tones with the coil split! 9 combinations I believe. Latest addition to what I realized is a rag tag bunch-o-axes.

There is no shame in rag tag. Congrats on the new axe.

Had a red one and really dug it - as long as I didn’t have to look at it.

They always struck me as a guitar that a couple different people had modded over the years or some guitar a session player just wanted to make have all the sounds he was looking for And didn’t care what it looked like.

They have a cult following of folks who know what they are.

Yours is def the deluxe model - nice score

    Just once?

Hope you enjoy your new guitar. I always thought those were an interesting twist on things - and I’ve heard good things about the Epi versions.

Nice guitar! I've always liked those, but I've never had one "come my way".
Do you think your neck pickup might have ceramic magnets and/or a hot wind? That could be an explanation of the "lack of definition".

Thanks all! I’ve always loved the
look. I’m running 4’11” @200# so smaller bodies tend to work out for me. Short and squat like a teapot! I realized after starting the thread that this is, after 30 years and probably as many guitars, my first Epiphone. Not by choice but chance. I’m pleased.

Always liked them and wanted a 3 pickup one. Pull the minibucker and put in a Firebird and you'll be happier. You may also like a no-load tone pot or tone pot bypass switch for more likeable HB tones.

Nice. I am in the "not crazy about the look of it" camp, yet I have always kind of thought I should have one. Go figure.

I was super close to buying a Gibson Nighthawk...really cool guitars. Kind of a mix between a Tele and SG tone wise, and I dig the look

    Enjoy!

Congrats! If I had the choice I would pick one in the same color.
