    hi folks,

I have just completed this Oilcaster build. Wanted a Tele with humbuckers so here we are. Body is cheap, Red Meranti, stained amber, royal blue, then few coats of finishing oil, wanted a kinda swampy oil slick on water type of finish, very pleased with how colours ended up.
Maple neck and fingerboard, neck pickup is a cheap Epiphone G-400 i picked up on Ebay, sounds beautiful, warm and overdrives nicely too, bridge is always a fave of mine, Warman twin rail humbucker, single coil sized, packs a bit of a punch.
Orange drop cap and 500k pots, and to finish off, I fabricated and engraved my own pick guard and control plate.
I am especially pleased with how it feels after a good set up, nice lowish action, no buzzing, pickups blend well together as well, all in all, pretty chuffed with this one.

Really nicely done! Love the metal work. You a metal worker of some kind coz that's some handy work there.
Your oil finish is exceptional. Never seen anything like that before. Very batik. Clever really.

    Love to hear a sample....

Looks incredible! And I really dig that guard, control plate. And that switch is a nice subtle touch.

    Enjoy

no, not a metal worker, in fact it’s only my third go at engraving, and I cut the pickguards and control plate out by hand

Beautiful! Looks like it’d be a MUCH more expensive guitar.
