Well around two years ago a cousin of mine gave me THIS guitar.

Of which I never had any use to, so I quickly sold it on.

A few weeks ago I heard about the music store where I sold it going out of business (A direct result of web shops such as Thomann) and decided to walk in there, to my great surprise it was still there.

So I decided to take it with me, I was told that the guys would strip it and then throw the poor thing away.

This old dog has come home.

It has a great Malcolm vibe. I dig it.

That empty pickup cavity, along with the color of the background in the pictures, creates the illusion that the hole is all the way through. Hey, maybe. . . .

Not very likely since it has a "made in Korea" sticker on the back of the headstock.

But yeah, it has that AC/DC vibe in spades.

    FAT.

Seriously, it's almost twice a Louisville slugger.

Today I decided to bring it back to its former glory.
DSC01940.JPG The pickup was its original neck pickup so I just moved it back there
DSC01941.JPG I didn't have Gibson Speed knobs so I used reflector knobs instead but they look the part. I also lacked a third pot to make it a two volume, one tone set up. So I ended up putting a phase switch in there which is also true to what those guitars would have had.

DSC01942.JPG And I fitted a back plate of a Les Paul in there.

    Much better.

I was thinking Westone when I saw it or Aria Pro II. I would rock that anytime.

It's neither of those since it has a "Made in Korea" sticker at the back of the headstock and it also doesn't have that typical Matsumoku look. And the neck is twice the thickness of a typical Matsumoku neck and the finish isn't nearly as neat as a Matsumoku finish.

It's probably a Cort made number for a chain of stores to sell as their in house brand.

EDIT, It's an Arirang, I found a picture of a matching one to mine.

Indeed as I suspected an early eighties Korean made number for a store to sell as an in house brand.

Well due to that rail road track profile neck, it's definitely a "Sitting-down-only" kind of guitar since playing barre chords is almost impossible without dislocating your thumb.

But other than that it does have a nice feel and the phase switch I put in there gives it a nice twang.
