I took an acoustic/electric nylon string guitar guitar down to the local music store to have a static problem through the amp addressed, and while there, I started noodling on some of the Taylor 12 strings they have laying around. The first one I tried out, an $1800 model didn't 'do' anything for me at all, so I hung it back up on the wall and noticed this very nice, dark wood, grand concert sized 12 string next to it. It didn't have a price tag on it, and just assumed by it's appearance that it was a lot more than I could afford (and it was, but there's ways around that if one is determined, and perhaps a little stupid, but....). It was fantastic, low, easy action (for an acoustic 12 string anyway), and I could pick chords quite cleanly, and it was a musical monster. I had to have the damn thing. So, home I go to see what I could find as a gear redundancy that I could sacrifice to the insatiable 'Gods-of-Guitar-Desire', and grabbed two guitars, a Gretsch and an Epiphone in this case, and one smallish Boss amp to sacrifice in order to get the cash part of the Taylor's cost down to something almost manageable. The Taylor was $3000, with $1000 off of that in trade-in stuff, so I got out of there with the Taylor for two grand, spread out over the next twelve months at zero interest. It's a 582CE, and as far as I can tell, worth every nickel. I might post a short video of it in the next day or two.
