I made a thread a few weeks ago about a guitar I thought I would eventually be getting, after I put it on layaway. It was a used 2020 Vintera '60s Modified Tele in Lake Placid Blue, Mint, with compensated brass saddles (obviously a mod). It had all the features I've been looking for, the price was $695 shipped, they don't charge tax to AZ, so I jumped on it as soon as I could.

Turns out that another clerk sold it to someone after I already reserved it without checking if it was already on hold. I found out after I paid it off in full a couple weeks later. Luckily, the store offered me a brand new guitar, same model/color for the same price, $695, plus they threw in a free T-shirt.

The only "down-side" is now I need a set of compensated saddles to match the specs of the guitar I originally paid for. But I can't complain since I got a new guitar at a 40% discount.

It arrived last night and I just love the tone. The 4 way switch and phase switch are killer!

    Here she is:

The Vintera line is a great value. And, they even got the Lake Placid Blue recipe right. You'd think a mainstay color like LPB would look the same from model to model, but it doesn't.

Don't worry about the saddles until and unless you find you really need them. My '60s Baja intonates quite well with the standard brass barrels.

I second this! the saddles on my Baja, AVRI62 and other teles that isnt compensated are all fine.. they intonate well enough for me..

the only saddles I replaced is the one from a Japanese 60s spec telecaster.. I didnt like the threaded steel saddles on it because I already have it on my AVRI62 as stock.. I wanted this Japanese tele to be a bit different and changed it to a Gotoh compensated brass ones.. affordable, great quality and brass..

Love Lake Placid Blue. Congrats on a really killer guitar. The fretboard looks very nice also.
And what a deal you got.

Hmmm...that is a very good point. I did happen to notice the intonation is pretty good as is. It didn't hold tune all that well, but that could be due to the nut and/or string tree needing lubed. I had wanted comp saddles with grooves so that the strings stay put, but I haven't had it long enough to know if I NEED new saddles. I hate to spend money on "upgrades" that I don't absolutely need, especially on my salary lol.

I never needed to put grooves in my Baja.. it stays put.. well, maybe because I use 11-52's.. pretty solid tuning and heavy gauge helps.. but im not a ham fisted guy anyway.. but even with non-groove saddles, it stays put, and my strumming technique stays close to the bridge pickup too..

I just went with Gotoh because I have purchased gotoh parts before and they're high quality parts for affordable money.. felt never needed to go beyond what they offer price-wise. it was just a bonus that these saddles came notched and compensated.. I hate the look of the slanted saddles.. thats just me.

as a starting point, I change the strings on any brand new guitars, and I run the new strings back and forth in the nut slots to "widen" them a tad bit, but not deepen them anymore. some are tight on the strings, especially the low E since I use 11-52's.. some are wide enough already.. i will eventually replace the nuts to bone anyway..

Congratulations! Fantastic instruments at a good price, so to get a big discount on top of that is great.

The Vintera Modified necks are my favorite. I have the roasted maple one on my partscaster.
