Some say these are basically the same as the Classic Series, just more expensive. There is some truth to this, but there are differences. I've had several of the classic Series - none of them ever had a neck like this. It's a fat U shape, and if you like fat necks, you'll love this. It's quite different from the Baja though, with a 7.25" radius and vintage frets. I have no trouble adjusting to different neck shapes, so it was fine for me. Some people may not like a neck this fat.

As to QC, it's excellent. No noticeable flaws. For build quality and "feel", it's right up there with the American Teles I've had. It is a professional-quality instrument. The pickups sound fine, I don't plan to swap them. I recall some of the early reports were that the manufacturing seemed rushed, with abundant QC issues, and one of our members really hated the pickups. Of course the pickups are a subjective thing, but the QC on this guitar seems to indicate it was built with a bit more care. Is there a trend upwards in QC lately? Hard to tell from a sample of one.

Sweetwater was excellent to deal with, and one great thing is that you can choose the guitar you want if there are several. I chose the lightest one at 7lb 6oz :). Once the guitar is sold and it comes off their website, they send you the original professionally shot photos, which I thought was a nice touch.

It's kind of hard to capture Sonic Blue in pics, especially with a smart phone, but I tried:

I looked at getting one of these recently too, that’s exactly the colour I would have chosen too.
The neck looks stunning, a very nice vintage tint to it.

Killer! I love Sonic Blue. If I hadn't picked up an American Special, The Vintera was my next choice.

I tried several of the Vintera 50s Teles and they were all lovely playing and sounding.I love the fat round neck shape on them. There is a 2 tone sunburst one currently for sale at my local Guitar center store that has really tempted me but I have successfully held off by convincing myself I don't need another guitar.I own a Vintera 60s Strat that is amazing and the whole series is really nice.Fender Mexico is making some killer stuff these days.Congratulations on yours!!

The one Vintera that's on my mind is the 50s strat.... I'm holding out for an AVRI 56 to pass me by but by Gosh that Vintera is spectacular.

Also loved the 50s tele I tried but so far I managed to convince myself that I'm good in the "50s tele" department. But dang did they get that one right too!

....I'm the guy who had the issues but let me just say I love that Tele now,the neck is just amazing ...totally agree they are up with US right now..any I've seen since have been flawless and with much better sounding pickups...
Oddly in Europe the price increase seems to be less noticeable....exchange rate possibly.....
    Finally,that Swart.......:):):)...what a combo!
