On Friday I got my new UniCut custom built LP jr guitar.

It´s made of cedro wood with a mahagoni neck and rosewood fretboard. The scale length is 25", the PRS scale. Gotoh vintage locking tuners, ABM wraparound bridge, 3-way-toggle and a mini toggle to switch the bridge humbucker in parallel mode.

Pickups are from a German brand named Amber. PAF-style HB and classic soapbar P90. Wolfgang Damm, the founder of Amber, was the Gibson sales manager in Germany for a long time and he developed the P94 pickup which Gibson also uses for their own guitars.

The laquer is a worn nitro on the front and an open pore laquer for the backs. It´s about 3,9 kg and a good weight for a LP style guitar.

Sounds fantastic with a lot of sustain also on the higher frets and a very clear and articulated response with a little bit more attack due to the longer scale. The parallel mode on the bridge humbucker is near to a tele sound.

The founder of UniCut guitars, Florian Luettke, got a lot of recommendations in the big guitar magazines for his own style guitars named Shoto, a more modern range of guitars. He´s a very kind guy and a passionate luthier with a lot of skills and knowledge. He made this guitar perfect :)

    Sehr gut!

Congratulations. Since this has two pickups I'd say it's more like a Les Paul Special though. No biggie.

Very interesting, looks like a Nik Huber Krautster.

I wish it didn’t say Unicut on the headstock, kind of a cheesy name IMO, but that’s a really cool guitar.

So that's the name of the company, there are no issues here in Germany with it.

You're right it's inspired by the Nik Huber Krautster but different in some things which are important for me.

I did notice you’re from Germany, so the Nik Huber influence makes even more sense.

Looks like a nice guitar, enjoy.

Nik Huber uses maple for the neck of the Krautster f.e., which I don't like for that kind of guitar. Also pups with higher output and I don't like his peghead style. UniCut is located in my area so I enjoyed the personal contact to the luthier.

That looks like really high quality. There's a lot of little details that look interesting. Is the top edge of the binding painted? I can't really see it in the first picture but maybe it's just blending into the couch. What is the pickguard made of?

The binding´s not painted also not on the top edge. The pickguard is high quality plastic. Florian, the luthier, is a perfectionist. If you´re interested take a look at his homepage UniCut guitars where you can find real high class guitars.

I have to correct me: the pickguard is made of wood , also the plates on the backside. No plastic!
