Anybody on the forum who knows me, knows it's been a tough year, not much in the way of good luck. In fact to the point that "good" luck scares the crap oughta me . Well except healthwise, I had some good luck yesterday.
Been saving up bits and bobs to treat myself (figured I deserved it) and ordered a Grote jazz guitar, red (been hankering for the cheapie) but apparently they aren't too bad and haven't been in stock much SOOOOOO ordered one directly from the factory in China (free shipping) and got a promise date of March 11th.
Being a fan of Trogelys Guitar Show on YouTube, I was surprised when Mr. High-end did a review on a Glarry Thinline Tele. For 2 cents less than $125 he and I were somewhat impressed. He didn't solicit them, they knew his general impression of cheap guitars and sent him one (balls I must say). Component wise about what he expected with a few surprises but fit and finish better than he expected. They apparently sought an honest critique, impressive. I too was surprised, not a big thinline fan (sorry guys, know where I am) and the translucent blue was nice. Well having a little little left over I went on his affiliate link and ordered one :). Was well treated, got a prompt email confirming the order then 12 hours later a shipping email. Well it arrived yesterday, was getting groceries with the missus, but promptly got an email thanking me for my business and a PHONE number in case I had questions or needed help :eek:. WHO does that these days especially among sellers of cheap?
When I got home, I was confronted by this

    received_231017205183423.jpeg

Well had a months worth of food to put up so unboxing was a late night tiring affair, first the Glarry

Short and sweet, and NO fret sprout and noticed Trog's concerns over the cheap hollow tuners had been addressed, at least as good as a Squier (which at this price point is amazing). Didn't dally long, didn't have time or energy and couldn't believe that box, taped and padded to kingdom come with the airline stickers could be the Grote, WAY too soon and packed with way to much care

    But wrong yet again

Well the first thing I notice, flawless binding even on the neck :eek: and it shipped with D'addario strings, like SX in the old days . So I tuned it up and gave it a whirl. Good medium action, very jazz appropriate and the high E buzzes unfretted . Well I'm going to bed, will check it later ;)

HNGDx2! I'd say that is a really sweet haul...the Glarry's are nice guitars (have one). Both are great looking. Good for you!

I keep saying we are in the golden age of guitars. So many options out there for low cost guitars that the fit and finish is crazy good.

My Ibanez Artcore that I picked up for $100 still amazes me with its binding.

2 in one day is a big Wow factor, congrats.

How did you get one from China so fast? I ordered on the 1st and as of today it's finally being loaded on a plane in Beijing.

Nice. I like the positioning of the hb on the thinline; a little closer to the neck.
