I went to my old home town to visit mom for her birthday this weekend. My brother needed a drill press, so we went to some pawn shops to look around.
Of course, I'm checking out all the guitars....oceans of Epiphones and squiers and such....the usual stuff you see at pawn shops. THEN, I spied this in the corner. The owner said he should have never bought it as old as it is. The tailpiece makes it hard to play and there's corrosion around the frets. After some discussion, I walked with my new $250 guitar! I m SO STOKED! Dig it!!!!!!!

Nice score! What's the brand name? I've never seen a bridge like that.

The bridge sucks. I'm gonna reset the neck and put a tune o matic on there.
Pickups are noisy, too. I have some GFS humbuckers I want to put in there.

Chances are nil of a pawn shop that deals in guitars not identifying a Les Paul as a high value guitar.

The EMGs should serve you well. Just make sure they're the active ones. You might need to do some routing to fit the battery, but it's worth it. Those single coils it has now must hum something awful!

First thing you should do is strip it then get a Floyd Rose installed.

    This one is true.:p
I recently worked at a small guitar shop, and one of these "walked in".
It was a "later" one (like this one) with a bound neck, without the diagonal
    p.u. mounting screws.
I love the extra tall "speed" knobs on these, and the great gold color.
The owner bought it, for a fair price in today's market.
It now is for sale in his shop.

If you decide you need EMGs try to find an old set of Selects. Do they even make those anymore? BTW extra jumbo frets RULE!!!
