Saw a gold top Hagstrom Swede today and bought it. I don’t know much about these guitars but after playing it thought it was cool and the price was right. We had band practice tonight and the guitar player saw it and wanted to try it out. Ok so now my new guitar is gone with him and he’s claimed it for our gigs Friday and Saturday night. He’s a Les Paul/Tele guy but he loved it and sounds real good on it. I’m happy I guess. It's a sweet guitar, but I don't like the funky tuners.

Hagstroms are underrated IMHO. I had and HJ 800 for a few years. A lotta good.

Me either as far as how they look but man they are smooth. Oh the headstock takes a little getting used to as well but it sustains like crazy so I gonna let that pass.

but…in context, with the whole “Chrysler Building” vibe and the finial at the top (prudently enclosed within the headstock !)….I could see it working. Sort of like Tony Soprano meets Django…:)

    That is a cool Hagstrom!!!!
Yeah, I’d be happy as long as he makes it sound better than I can  Soooo. Yeah….I’d be happy…I guess:rolleyes:! But I’m really the bass player, so…yeah!!

I like the headstock, but I’d change those tuners in a heartbeat!

    ;)

I dig the overall look. I like it, visually, more than a gibby. I enjoy a classic design with esthetic tweaks. I've never played one, but I'd jump at the chance.

We have a black version of your Swede at the studio... its a cool axe. Not sure if the mods are stock or my studio partner did them years ago, but it has coil splits and taps....
interesting take on a LP style axe.

Don't let the conservatives talk you into loosing the excellent tuners... They're a feature! And don't let that guitarist 'permanently borrow' it!

I dig the art deco tuner look and the headstock. Hagstroms I have played worked and sounded boss, but the necks were too thin for me.
    Good guitars though.

They are nice guitars. Here are some artists that have been seen using the Swede: Larry Coryell, Dave Davies, Kerry Livgren. They were rather popular in the late 70's-early 80's.

I love that thing. We have one here too. It’s my wife’s but I don’t let that bother me. It sounds just like it’s mine if I plug it in.
