Well, Martin's budget version of the 414CE, their name is too long... Actually, I think this model is specific to GC/MF...

MF has a good deal on them right now and GC price matches... And, this one plays great and sounded great when I tested it while I waited on something else at GC.

Specs: Sunburst Spuce top, Ovangkol b/s, Mahogany neck. Grand Performer body shape (OM/Auditorium) with cutaway and Fishman electronics with controls in soundhole.

After playing it for several hours I restrung it with the Martin Retros that were thrown in with the deal, at the same time I sanded the saddle down a tad and got the action dialed in low like I like.

The tone of this guitar is amazing, I had never played a guitar with these woods, kind of like rosewood... nice big bottom with crisp high end, good note separation and balance.

As usual with me, your going to have to wait for pic proof as my camera batteries are dead...

I had a Yamaha AC5R, which I traded in on this guitar. It was just a tag smaller, yet it was heavier. The Martin is decidedly louder and sounds great whether finger picked or flat picked and responds well to a light or heavy touch. Despite its budget appointments, this is a great guitar...

The best thing about this guitar is that inspires me to play...

I'll try to get some batteries for the camera today...

    Looks like this...

It's a hard title to recall (hence "Martin 414CE"), after two days of searching the net, I found a description... https://www.wwbw.com/Martin-Special-Grand-Performance-Cutaway-Performing-Artist-Style-Ovangkol-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar-Sunburst-L10414-L10414000001000.wwbw?source=TWWR5J1BB&cntry=us&currency=usd&gclid=CjwKCAjwnf7qBRAtEiwAseBO_P-NAUk82J9fnJDTjkqMDsQQRV8SX-6PP7iC8Cg2T0f-rnKhkosUKxoC2k4QAvD_Be wE It doesn't show up on Martin's website, or, I haven't found it there yet... I was able to register the warranty online though...

It was one of those or this Martin when I was looking, both could be had for the same price. But, the Martin sounded better and I like Richlite... The Martins deluxe gig bag (price point) is much like the Taylor gig bag, which i prefer over a hard shell case due to ease of carry. (I have no children and the humidity is just right, so it sets in a guitar stand near my chair)

Overall, it's a great guitar and will keep me satisfied until I can save up for a Martin 000-28 Modern Deluxe.

Great pick! I have a 20 year old Taylor 414 that sounds terrific now (they were way cheaper then). The grand auditorium body size is really versatile. There's still plenty of bottom end but the mids and highs are more pushed forward by the smaller waist, where they are more buried in the big dreadnaught box (unless you can afford a really $$$ one). Less boomy to amplify and more comfortable. Many older guys' shoulders can't handle the dred reach anymore (just like a lot of us are going with smaller combo amps)

Play it in good health! TP
