I picked this up last night. Certainly from a "list price" standpoint, the nicest Strat I've owned.

Spaghetti logo, maple board, two-color burst, and vintage tuners indicates it's the "Fender Classic Series'50s Stratocaster." Though advertised on craigslist as simply a "Mexican Strat." And priced accordingly!

Of course, the Classic Series '50's model in fact "streets" for 60% _more_ than a more typical Mexi-made Fender Standard Strat. So this was a crazy good deal I could not pass up, despite that my Squier Strat Deluxe has been doing the job quite nicely for the last year or so. I'll be listing the Squier for sale presently, after I check to see what Strat Deluxes are going for.

This Classic Series '50's Strat was so cheap I'll probably recoup most of the purchase price when the Squier sells. (I love Gainesville!) Still need to choose a name. "Brownie" is most obvious, but that's already taken by my Mexi-made Telecaster Special.

Sunny's not bad, thanks. An online friend just suggested "Cocoa," which I like even better, though will probably modify it to "Coco," so it doubles as both color reference and grrl name.

    ;)

Thanks Chris. Here's a better pic:

A former bandmate has already spoken for the Squier this'll replace. Total net out-of-pocket for the upgrade? $50!

    Guitar karma.

Ooh, it does have a Buddy Holly vibe to it, don't it?

    Dang, now I'm torn.

Nothing better than upgrading gear for a seemingly small outlay

I was going to suggest Buddy, or maybe Cricket.

Great find, whatever the name. Beautiful.

Get out of that basement more!

Gainesville is a university town with a very high ratio of musos to normals, so it tends to be a buyer's market. I've gotten a number of very good deals here over the years.

This is one of the better ones, though, for sure.
