Hello everybody

This little Piggy loves P90s

This little Piggy loves telecasters

This little Piggy was walking through town and saw a sonic blue telecaster in a pawn shop window at GBP60 with a P90 in the neck

This little Piggy went "wee wee wee" - all the way into the shop, and found it to be a STAGG. Not the most salubrious of brands, but I'm a big believer in a good brand can make a bad guitar, and vice versa, so I gave it a go

Everything on it was adjusted wrongly, and the strings were cholera ridden, but I detected greatness, and decided to chip the shop down, but they refused to drop a penny. These things retail at about 150 on Amazon right now

Went onwards to the coffee I was to meet someone for, and mentioned to my buddy how I had lost my skills of negotiation. He in turn told me I was mad to not get it, knowing I could make it into something really playable. He said he would buy it from me if I didn't like it, as he'd always wanted a telecaster

SO

I got it, cleaned it, restrung it, balanced everything right - and it plays great. I'd say it is better than my Affinity, but of course falls far short of either of my Bajas - but given those currently retail at about 800 in the UK, I think that is fair enough

I can't bring myself to talk about creamy P90 goodness etc - it's a reasonably cheap tele, but I can confirm if my budget was only 150 and I could have this new or my Affinity new, I would get this

PS: SONIC BLUE ROCKS - but I also prefer the faded sonic blue on my baja

Great save man. Love seeing these guitars getting the attention they need/deserve.

I am too cool to admit that I do not know what a 'great Nick' is. If you are referring to the ding behind the bridge, I didn't do it. If you are referring to Santa Claus, I don't understand what you are asking me to do
Oops. Mistyped, I meant neck!
You just spoilt my day. I was waiting to find out Santa put that ding in it
I'm still gonna adopt that as a standard bit of advice when anyone gets a new guitar......"Put a great nick in it...." ;)

Dear whomsoever messaged me:

as per request, here is both a scan and a photo of the pickguard, on graph paper, with a couple of rulers next to it so you can get scale. I can't figure out how to read messages right now to find out who that was (please let me know if it was you - no one needs to tell me how to read messages that I cannot find)

Imperial side of ruler put in for the Yankee Doodles who don't know what a sentiemetre is

The graph paper is half a centimetre deep by row, but closer to 1 inch wide on columns - figure that out eh?
