As promised in the Esquire thread...here she is.

At first I wasn't sure on the colour. When I opened it, it looked lighter than the photos. When I woke up this morning and looked again I loved it. It's one of those colours that looks different depending on the lighting.

It came in just over a day from Andertons and I paid just over £340 after using some points. Brilliant service from Andertons as ever.

Straight from the box it played ok. 4 strings were in tune! The action needed lowering 3/4 of a turn for my taste. Intonation was spot on.

The fit an finish is outstanding. I have no idea why but I've never owned a CV even as a massive Squier fan. I sold an 89 MIJ Fender toploader Tele to buy this and I mutch prefer the CV. I actually think it's better than Chinese CVs I've played as the neck lacquer isn't as thick.

My only slight criticism is the pickguard is very white (!) and the switch tip feels cheap.

When I plugged it in I was blown away. It plays so so well and sounds great. I like it with the switch down and some slight gain. The middle position is great to slightly roll the tone off for a mellow lead tone.

The tone in the up position isn't what I was expecting. I've modded a single pickup Tele so in the up position it is basically the same sound as when the tone is totally rolled off. The Esquire is slightly different. This position seems to lose some volume. Might be a good jazzy sound but I prefer the middle position with the tone rolled off for this.

    All in all it's brilliant.

image.jpg Congrats on your new Esquire!

My Daphne Blue Tele has a mint green pickguard that looks off white and complements the body color well.

Very, very nice indeed! I've put off getting one for now, but wish I had carried on the sale now. Oh, well never mind. Many happy plays together.

Anyway, no Lefty version would never in the world exist :( - the only way to have one would be to built it. ;)

Mmm, that's nice. If they were available in the US I'd be all over that.

Sweet guitar, congrats. As mentioned in your post, it's hard to really capture the color. Same with my vintage white. It really depends on the light. That guitar will look killer on stage.

I've seen it on the musicstore.com (Germany) site a few days ago. It's very tempting... o_O
    You and me both... :(
    Is there medication for that?

The "mud" switch is pretty lame if you're playing at a reasonable level. But if you're cranked, it can do some cool things. It's also real good with a fuzz pedal.

Here's the textbook classic recorded example of an Esquire on "mud":

Stephen Stills was playing a blackguard Esquire, presumably through a blond Fender, maybe a Bandmaster or Bassman, probably turned right up.
