Not ten minutes ago, scanning eBay, I just got suckered into ordering a new Danelectro 12SDC 12 string for $299 with free shipping from a familiar 'big name' music store in Kansas City.

I've been wanting another electric 12 string for quite a while, and after having a pretty decent experience with a Dano 12 I owned some years ago, I decided to get another one. Usually, these are priced between $425 to nearly $500, so getting a new one for $299 with free shipping was irresistible, and tomorrow is my birthday, so I deserve something nice just for living this long.

I had one. Really a great guitar for very little money. They are players.

Careful, the MF page for this guitar is only two clicks away from the most awesome Gretsch Custom Shop Country Gentleman 12 String... and it ain't $299... :)

    It's my birthday, too. Hmm...

You're no help. No, I have enough guitars for the moment... as crazy as that sounds...

There’s never a deal on those when I have spare funds. Then again, I never have spare funds. Someday, the stars will align, and I will own a Danelectro 12.

EDIT: Those currently list for $635 CDN.

I really don't have much in the way of 'spare funds' either, but I'll be able to tighten my belt a bit and spring for a $300 buck guitar this month as long as it's a usable instrument, which these Dano 12's usually are, and it fills a nasty gap in my stringed arsenal. I'm back to playing some of my guitars' three to four hours a day, on my days off of course, and will definitely use the Dano quite a bit now that I'm back into playing again.

If I could get one for $400 CDN new in the box, I would probably find a way. As you say, it fills a gap (although I have an acoustic 12, but I can always convince myself electric is different, for the purposes of buying a guitar).

    Enjoy the jangle!

You probably did. It probably just happened during one of my poverty periods. Which is basically most of the time. :D

What a great way to treat yourself on your birthday!

Every player should have at least one twelve-string guitar!
