I have been missing my weekly trip to the local guitar store to check out guitars and so when the $129 sale came around again, I went for it! Guitar is pretty great. Plays good, sounds good, looks good. Can't ask for much more!

Looks fun, to me. Crank that little Ampeg and tell us what it sounds like.

Congratulations! These are great guitars for $129. Great mod platform too. I just picked one up a month ago from GC in seafoam green and did some mods to it, finished it and set it up today. Painted to match headstock, ebony stained FB, 4 way switch, Klusons, black guard, Dragon Fire PU's and refinished the neck with amber shellac and clear lacquer.

Ampeg is just operating as a speaker cab in this setup for the 1-watt amp in the pillbottle! The sound is pretty raw! Squier is responsive in all three pickup configurations. I see many possibilities for this one...

don’t mean to hijack thread, but Intubator How did you get the three saddle bridge on?? Is that a four screw?? My Bullet has a five screw through body...

Looks great!! I’ve got one heading my way (had to send first one back- unadjustable “kink” in neck :mad:)

I’ve got a set of pickups (Bootstrap Original Recipes) Wilkinson tuners, new pots/cloth push-back wire, Soviet paper/oil cap, switchcraft jack and Kaish sealed heavy-duty three-way switch planned for it (all on my bench waiting for a home!)

oh- and a cheap vintage color tort pickguard- Whew- getting itching to get going on it when it comes!!!
With the $129 initial cost, and being frugal on my upgrades- I’ll be in for slightly more that a new Affinity would have cost! - I suggest checking out Bootstrap Pickups- they are USA wound at reasonable (~$50 a set) price. Search the just pickups forum for testimonials!! (No-I’m not with the company!)

Congatulations! These $129 Squier (sans Bullet on headstock) Telecasters are killer! I picked up a couple at that price for modding, but man, after doing minor new-guitar setup on them, I'm leaving them stock. I find the pickups to be superb! 2020 is looking good finally!

Yup, i recently picked up the LPB Squier Bullet as well. Bought it for the color and I have a Fender neck I was going to put on it and use it for a modding platform. This is a really nice guitar in its own right! I love the pickups. Once I got the height adjusted they are great for my taste, probably my best Tele pickups. I like them better than my Baja pickups. 7.3 lbs, standard C neck, satin finish (seems like no finish). Unbelievable for this price. Not sure I need any other Teles! I oiled the Indian laurel fretboard, looks nice to me. I am more of a maple fretboard person on Teles, but this plays and feels great. This is a stock photo.

Looks like Ice Blue Metallic to me, not LPB, but I like the color anyway.

Do they shield the Bullets at all? I am guessing not...

Haven't had it apart yet, but I highly doubt it is shielded. It is pretty quiet though. I will probably put a 4-way switch in it sometime.

Its a four screw Wilkinson w/compensated saddles. The way it sits required the four mounting screws for the bridge to be seated pretty much inline with the through body holes for the original setup, they missed the existing string through holes too so no issues there. The bridge now covers the ferrule holes but that s OK with me because its a top loader now anyway and intonates perfectly too.

Same with my '19. Shielding paint. Very quiet.

Congrats! And what's that pill-bottle-looking doo-hickey there on the floor?

That's the amplifier! It's 1 watt and has an internal speaker and an external speaker output. The Ampeg is 10 watts and more than what I can get away with in my apartment so I'm just using its speaker.

    Say whaaaa?

Truly, I can't even conceive of how that works. To spare your time, can you link me to something that does so? I mean, I know that stuff in pill bottles can make one see sounds and hear tastes, but....

They are a great instrument on their own. I could find no better modding platform for $130.
