The FedEx guy dropped off a nice little package from Sweetwater. I've been going back and forth on either the Road Worn or the Baja. I had a Baja for a bit but didn't care for the neck that much and needed some extra cash so it got sold. I've been looking for a RW to check out in person but none have been available so, after doing a lot of research, I decided to pull the trigger.

I'm not much of a fan of relicing but I have to say that the neck feels perfectly worn in -- super comfortable. I have a set of Rutters saddles on the way and I am dropping it off with my luthier this weekend for a setup and a fret level, polish, and crown. I had a whole host of other modifications planned for it but the electronics seem good and I actually really dig the pickups. They will probably be swapped out at some point for right now I am just going to get to know this beauty for who she is, and she is great.

The guitar isn't as custard yellow as it looks in the photo. The best I could do at night with my cell phone.

Played one of these awhile back. Super nice guitar with a familar neck feel. Surprised to find out they are dropping this model. I keep thinking they will drop the Esquire from the Classic Series '50s line up....they are amazing guitars ,but I don't notice them selling in drones though I could be wrong? Anyway back to this model! Congrats op hope you enjoy that sweet looking Tele.

Huh, they are dropping this model? I hadn't heard that at all, and I've been doing a lot of research online about them another similar models. Interesting.

I have an older one with more relicing. I made some worn marks on the 9th through 12th neck area. The finish checking on it is very well done. I took some 3 in 1 oil and rubbed it everwhere that was wood then rubbed it out, it made the guitar look nice and old and the finish checking looked more impressive. I showed it to a friend who works at a guitar store and he thought it was a Custom Shop model. Sorry I cant post pics .

Lovely guitars! I had to play mine 6 mos before I could even quibble about changing something, they are that good. The setup though is imperative.

It's no longer on Fender's web site.. my dealer friend confirmed that the Road Worn line had been dropped.

I just checked and the 50's RW Tele is still listed on the Fender site. Also the 50's and 60's Strat RWs are there.

    Sorry, I'm confused.

Very nice Tele! Congratulations! I also had not heard until this thread that Fender was dropping the RW Series. I have a 2013 and over time it has become my favorite Tele out of five. All I've done to mine was install a set of brass saddles...more for looks than anything. It's turned out to be a real sweetheart and I hope yours does too. Happy New Year!

I would assume the classic 50s lacquer more or less fills the void. *shrug*

    Guitar looks awesome! HNGD
