After weeks searching around for the sadly discontinued Road Worns, I got a second hand one.

The thing that most surprised me was that the fretboard has absolutely no wear at all.

Maybe the they forgot to "relice" it?

Wondering if you guys have ever seen a no-wear fretboard in a Road Worn? o_O

I remember a while ago someone else posted about a RW with zero neck wear. Can't remember what forum though. Think it was another Euro poster.

The Neck has the usual wear on the back and Headstock. Only the Fretboard has none.

My road worn player didn’t / doesn’t have any fretboard wear. There is some on the back.
It is the most comfortable neck I own.

The funny thing is that my ideal Road Worn would have been with a heavy body "relic" (like the 1st Serie) but without the too fake looking fretboard wear and I didn't even knew that they existed!

It surprised me after unpacking the guitar

Now I just have to abuse it to make the body heavy road worn if that is even possible... o_O

It's still a very fine guitar. I noticed with my 2018 model that it had very much less wear than my original 2010 which was quite over the top. I would imagine the reason they stopped making these was because they could not afford the time at the price.

I see it - stare down at both of your hands and say to yourself in 20 years she will look perfect.

Why if she does the trick? After spending that much time with her you'll want to cherish your memories together.

Because I like the super heavy relics of the CS, and this one won’t get to that extreme.

But this one man, it gives such peace of mind don’t having to babysiting it and don’t being afraid to have children around...

Edit: For those of you that don’t know what I mean, that is a super heavy relic...

It's not that I have anything against these, to each their own, but it makes me wonder if the people relicing these even play guitar. Case in point.. the wear above the 21st fret:rolleyes: I mean how would that even happen? Roy B played off the board quite a bit

    download-1.jpg

But even Nancy doesn't show that kind of wear

The first generation Roadworns had a a heavier relic job but the second generation ones had a more subtle relic job which I prefer. My Roadworn 50s in this pic is a second generation one(2016 I think)and there is no relic on the fretboard.

Fretboard wear is almost always accompanied by fret wear. If the frets look virginal and original to the guitar, and everything else is all worn to bits, that's a lie I just get queasy about.

This is fine, I think. Let the play relic his own frets and own board, so they match.

I'd just as soon FMIC start making a bunch more Road Worns, just like yours, Navier.

I have one exactly like yours with very little fret board wear. Very lightly relic'd overall. Amazing neck. Best MIM Ive owned next to my Classic 60s Strat.

Well, like I said above, I like the body wear but not on the Fretboard, at least not that exaggerated.

I like to think that the guitar has been rescued in the last second from a house burning down, and that obviously doesn't worn the fretboard

I know your picture very well @lasrup, it is one of my favorites in this forum and has part of the responsibility me wanting a road worn :p

...and the white Pickguard is on its way. I don't dig the black one.
