The body arrived today, and I went right to work...

Budget Partscaster. The body is a Dillion Thinline (oddly, not used as I expected, but brand new with no screw holes at all), single bound Ash. Tuners, pickups, strap buttons, neck plate, knobs (don't dig the black, I'll change those out for sure) came out of the parts box. The neck is a refurb that I bought off Reverb - came in in really nice shape, frets were nicely dressed and hardly needed any adjustment at all. Bridge is a Wilkinson that came with the body. And I got two more pickguards, one for a P-90 and one for a humbucker if I get restless and want to swap the neck pickup out.

Did a quick intonation and everything seems pretty good. I'll let it sit overnight and check it again tomorrow.

Altogether it set me back just under $200 and a few hours' work. Not bad at all.

Not showing this thread to my best beloved. She'd be asking why my builds take months, years sometimes, and cost, well, what they cost.

    That looks really nice!

I'm trying to convince her I need a better stocked bits and pieces drawer...

Just an update - I've been keeping the guitar on a stand in my office, and I'm kinda surprised at how well it plays. I haven't plugged it in and checked the sound of it yet, but in terms of playability it's on the money.

I finished my project and am very pleased overall. Everything was already here except the body and pickguard.

    Nice P casters!
I have another one almost done myself.
Cant go anywhere, so might as well build a caster or two.
