It is a new color!!! Dog hair burst. Now I’m going to be a few hundred dollars poorer.

It’s still a black-edged burst though even if it’s black-ish in the middle… why don’t they do a nice solid colour?? Olympic White, Black, …
I know the pretty wood is traditionally one of PRS’s selling points, and I understand the fancy tops helped get them established way back — but surely now some plain colours would make some money?? I’d be more likely to buy one. (On the other hand I do like the bird inlays.)

Are these still pretty thin necks? That's one thing I didn't like about the SE I had years ago.
Do they make a single cut SE hollow?

Yeah its still a burst, but a burst I can live with since it’s not sunburst. Or 2 tone brown burst, or blue burst.

The dog hair is a nice touch too. Ive seen it first from Collings, and ive always wanted one. It’ll be here in Australian shores later this year, so im gonna check it out in person if I like it

It’s good to see so many enjoying their SEs and thank you all for the kind comments. I’ve been playing the hollow body standard for a few weeks now, including one band rehearsal. Seriously impressed.

As for setup, in the end I just had to tweak the nut slot on the G and then set intonation at the bridge. I haven’t touched anything else and will leave it be for a while until I know it better. But so far it plays in tune all over, no fret buzz unless I’m sloppy, and it’s more responsive than the semi hollow Epi 339 I was playing before, with a fuller sound. The humbuckers are well matched so both sound good with the same amp settings. This all translates into a more relaxed playing experience with more brain space for the jazz.

Looking forward to gigging it, hopefully early Feb.

Can I pile onto the PRS SE lovefest? I am a total P-90 geek and just happened to stumble on a closeout deal MF was doing after Christmas 2008. My receipt for this one says I bought it 1-2-09.

PRS SE semi-hollow, $499 with the excellent gig bags they supplied back then. MIK and I REALLY like the P-90's they used in these. Light as a feather with no neck dive. Chunky neck (just the way I like it). Love the natural maple body "binding".
