2001 MIJ Paisley Strat w Big Headstock. I knew it would be "special". Did not expect it to be so
light! No idea what wood the body is from, but it just feels so nicely balanced. Neck is much
thicker than my other MIJ Strats. Plan is (gasp) trim 'er down to the same specs as my
MIJ Texas Special and do a compound radius. Prolly go with Cavalier pickups.

You should just buy a different neck that has the features you want and keep the original as backup or for future resale.

Yes - I came to the same conclusion. While shopping Fender replacement necks with period correct big headstock, I accidentally ordered a Road Worn one without carefully reading the text. What arrived a few days later was a bullet truss Telecaster Deluxe neck. I ordered a Vintera neck (there is no available Road Worn with big headstock and maple fretboard for a Strat) and found the Vintera neck just awful with heavy mirror glaze that is ugly to look at and too sticky
to use, and back it went to the seller. So I figure, to hell with it, I'm using the Telecaster Deluxe neck because I love the profile and the finish. I just don't care if the cork-sniffers get bent of of shape by the use of the Tele neck. I put these projects together for me, not for a bunch anonymous collector types.
