So, the story begins when I was 14 years old. I remember having a conversation with a fellow student (who played guitar) about this pretty patterned guitar that I'd seen on the TV the previous evening played by Chris Difford of Squeeze. From that point on I wanted to play guitar and be in a band like Squeeze and that's also where my love affair with Telecasters began as both Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook played Tele's. Now fast forward to 1994 I think, there was an interview with Chris and Glenn in Guitarist magazine, which is where I found out that the guitar was a paisley Tokai. According to Chris "the neck was pretty crap so I had Danny Ferrington to make a replacement" the pickups were also changed to Fender OV's. This was his main guitar for many years and until recently was his back up. In the years that have passed I probably become the world’s biggest Squeeze fan even to the extent I had Glenn Tilbrook play at our wedding reception. A short while ago I was with Chris at his London house and who'd of thought that 23 years later that "pretty patterned" guitar would be MINE!
